Nippon Maid Association

nma.jpgThe Nippon Maid Association(NMA) has been set up on the 8th of April in order to teach maids how to be a proper maid. They plan to have maid seminars starting in September and a maid qualification test starting in december.

At one point, there were about 100 maid shops(such as maid cafes) in Tokyo. The founders of the NMA were unhappy with the situation that anybody could become a maid as long as they wear a maid uniform and decided that maids need proper training and qualifications. They aim to raise the way in which people perceive maids so it becomes similar to the way they perceive a career as an air stewardess or a hotel service personnel, and ultimately turn maids into a part of Japanese culture.

Why do I feel so sad even while I am laughing at them?

“Don’t just WEAR the uniform! BE the maid. Spiritually PORTRAY the frilly outfit and the funny-looking thing on your head.”

Damn! I’ll admit that I’m jealous. But the maid theme is one that shouldn’t be done to death like with “Hanaukyo Maid Division.”

Mahoromatic was pretty good (the English Dub giving a British accent to Mahoro) until I figured out that it was done by the anti-otaku Gainax.

And Black Lagoon had the only bright spot within this suck of a series; the FARC-Maid Roberta.
