higu2.jpgThe official site for the Higurashi no naku koro ni kai anime is up now, and they have revealed that the anime will have an original chapter called yakusamashihen. The new chapter will serve to help viewers remember what happened in the first season and help new viewers catch up, apparently.

Gyakuten Saiban TV drama

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

saiban.jpgCapcom has announced that a Gyakuten Saiban TV drama will go on air during the golden week in Japan starting from the 1st of May. It will be in the form of a detective-type TV show where viewers will watch the case and try to solve it themselves. The answer for the case will be shown on the Gyakuten Saiban 4 official website on the same day the TV drama airs on TV. It has not been announced specifically, but we can assume the episode will be approximately 5~10 minutes in length.

In other related Gyakuten Saiban news, Capcom has announced that they have shipped over 500,000 copies of Gyakuten Saiban 4, the highest shipment rate in the series thus far. However when you couple this with the unpopularity of Gyakuten Saiban 4, you see prices of new copies drop to almost half price, just two weeks after release too.

Taiko no Tatsujin DS

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

taiko.jpgBandai Namco Games has announced in the latest famitsu magazine that they will be releasing their popular music game, Taiko no Tatsujin, to the DS. The game will allow for 4 player wireless play or download play. The current list of music that has been revealed does not have any anime music yet, but it has Super Mario Brothers! They have also not yet revealed how the game will be played with the touch screen though, as all the shots shown so far are only of the top screen. I can only imagine that it would be difficult to play with only one touch pen and the DS touch screen that can’t detect two different spots being touched at once.

Sound Horizon Roman concert DVD release

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

roman.jpgSound Horizon’s 2nd live concert DVD, Roman, has been released, and Otaroad Blog has pictures of some of the displays found at dendentown. Sound Horizon is a band(?) formed around composer Revo that used to be very popular as a doujin group till their major debut in 2004. Their first concert DVD, Elysion, managed to make 2nd place on the weekly oricon charts. I like Sound Horizon.

More on Gainax(?)

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

gainax2.jpgSomebody told me I need to write more so people don’t assume wrong things. The two people in involved in the mess are production manager Mimori Keiko(disgusting otakus die) and Gurren Lagann producer Takami Akai(2ch is like an anus).

The current flow of events:
1) Gurren Lagann ep 1 airs and most people love it
2) Mimori Keiko sees comments from the small minority that did not like ep 1 and says she does not want to deal with digusting otaku anymore and they should all die
3) Takami Akai replies that “2ch is an anus. It’s full of brainless trash that think they are superior to all.”
4) Episode 4 airs and there is a riot on the net over the bad art
5) Mimori Keiko comments that “That episode is something that only a pro would appreciate. Amateurs that don’t know what they are talking about should not comment about it lol.”
6) People notice old comments made earlier in the month about disgusting otaku.

All the comments from the Gainax staff were personal comments made on mixi, a social networking service. The actual posts can be seen here and here.

Not really related but Gainax apparently also put up a Gurren Lagann comic two days ago featuring the mascot from Precure 5 getting shot by Yoko, and Toei got pissed off.

Gainax trouble

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

yoko.jpgGainax has been gathering quite a bit of online controversy over the past days. It first started when it attracted almost 900 comments on its official blog over ep 4 of Gurren Lagann when fans did not receive director Osamu Kobayashi’s style very well.

Then fans soon found comments made earlier in the month by one of the Gainax staff on mixi that she does not want to deal with disgusting otaku viewers anymore and wishes them dead. The Gurren Lagann producer then replies to the same post and agrees and says that 2ch is like an anus. This of course angered many of the fans and the comments on the official blog only become uglier. However this is only the start, and considering 2ch’s long history of controversies, I am only hoping Gainax comes out unscathed…
