2ch has more influence than the prime minister, the emperor, and the mass media combined
Wired Vision has published an article about the huge Japanese bbs 2ch, claiming that it has more influence than prime minister, the emperor and the mass media combined. 2ch receives 2,500,000 posts a day on average and is possibly the largest online bbs in the world.
The article cites how posts in 2ch in the past have been able to affect the stock market, attract a gathering for charity, gather a large amounts of people for offline events, prevent terrorist attacks, and even have related suicide cases.
The article goes on to compare 2ch to the yakuza in that they will do anything to destroy the target if they get pissed off.(like during the wotajo case)
2ch isn’t bad most of the time, they got that animal abusing Sony employee arrested among others, they got densha otoko(and more recently Manhole/Aquarion otoko), and they continue to expose TBS’s attempts at manipulating news on TV.(and Famitsu’s scandals too)
Also, it’s annoying how english speakers keep mistaking Futaba channel for 2ch.
