Game company Extreme has popped out of nowhere and announced that they have acquired the Masaya brand label and have revealed that they have a top secret Chou Aniki project going. Chou Aniki is a famous side scrolling shooter that goes all the way back to the PC-engine days.

According to Dengeki Online, they will be releasing their older games on the Wii virtual console too, so fans of the Langrisser series can rejoice.

Extreme also started a band called PSG apparently, and as the name of the band suggests, they use sounds from the 8-bit gaming era for their music. The site has a short sample of their music so take a look if you’re interested.
