idolmaster.jpgDuring the recent Trusty Bell launch party at Roppongi, Unozawa Shin from Bandai Namco Games had revealed that the downloadable content for THE iDOLM@STER has already amassed over 100 million yen in sales, and expresses his amazement at how much it managed to sell, and goes on to say that it’s a completely new business model. Their downloadable content for iDOLM@STER mainly consists of new clothes, and their best selling items were school uniforms and buruma sets. It’s going to be a wonderful new market of selling items targeting otaku.

They’ve started to make the content available in the United States, where the game isn’t. A gamer picture pack can be downloaded for 200MSP. The funny thing is that much of the descriptions of the content are still in Japanese - it’s almost as if they made the content region-free by mistake. I’m wondering if they are planning to make a U.S. version of the actual game… maybe if lots of people buy the content, they’ll consider it. - ZM

Well Zotmeister, according to Kotaku the producer of Idolmaster wants to bring the game to the US, if the US audience wants it.
