Utawarerumono Radio ends

Monday, June 25th, 2007

utaradio.jpgAfter running for a year and 51 sessions later, Utawarerumono Radio has now officially ended. Hosted by Koyama Rikiya(Hakuoro) and Yuzuki Ryouka(Eruruu), it made history in 2006 by becoming the most popular radio show ever on internet radio station Onsen in a few sessions after it started.

It was also from this radio show that Koyama Tsuyoshi(Kurou) made his break as a singer. A song which he had jokingly composed as the true theme song of Utawarerumono slowly escalated into a full song which was released as a maxi single that made it to #10 on the Oricon charts on the day of release.

ufotable on Kara no kyoukai animations

Monday, June 25th, 2007

kyoukai.jpgSome days ago ufotable updated on their diary on the considerations that they have taken in animating how the characters move in the Kara no kyoukai movie. They explained that usually they would refer to other works when they decide how to animate a character’s movements, but Shiki in Kara no kyoukai is a little different from normal characters so they made a few short animation clips to help decide how they want to do it (the clips can be viewed on the diary).

Lucky Star ep 12

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

ls1201.jpgls1203.jpgls1204.jpgComic Market eps are always awesome. I was laughing at the Comic Market portion and I realised that I’ve been through all the same situations and that none of it was exaggerated.

It was pretty cool to have Chihara Minori and Sugita Tomokazu playing as themselves in the anime. And the Lucky Star website just updated to announce that the Sagara and Kyon telephone cards are really on sale at Animate too. And ZARD ending song too…

tommy.jpgTMA has released the trailer for Higurashi ga naku koro ni, their upcoming adult video based on Higurashi no naku koro ni. They’re even using the same free music as Higurashi! This is actually pretty cool. The trailer is safe for work too, they know that their audience is only buying it for laughs.

DJ Raoh returns

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

djraoh.jpgThe Hokuto no ken official site has secretly uploaded this flash movie of DJ Raoh which was apparently shown before the actual movie during the special preview of Hokuto no ken Raoh gaiden gekitouhen. It’s great, but it must have completely spoiled the mood for the actual movie…

For those that have never seen DJ Raoh before, DJ Raoh was a series of flash movies that was pretty popular on the internet a while back. Alternate link for the old DJ Raoh flash movies.

Capcom to teach in Japanese middle schools and high schools

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

capcom.jpgCapcom has announced that in association with the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Japan Securities Dealers Association, they will be starting a long-term educational support program where they send employees to schools to teach classes as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR).

In this educational support program, the students will first pick the company that they wish to support, and in response they will send pamphlets to the students from the company that they are interested in, and at the same time also send a request for the company to send somebody down to the school to teach them more about the company.

As the first part of their program, Capcom will be sending an employee to middle schools in the Saitama prefecture and use games which the students are familiar with to teach subjects such as the ups and downs of being a game creator or the ratings system for video games.

The objective is to teach the students more about the corporate world and also to cultivate students to independently learn more about subjects that they are interested in.
