Higurashi no naku koro ni live action movie

higu.jpgA Higurashi no naku koro ni live action movie has been announced for theatres in 2008. The movie will be directed by Oikawa Ataru and as of now, Maeda Gouki(16), Asuka Rin(16) and Matsuyama Airi(17) have been announced to be on the cast.

This is not a joke. The director’s history is a joke however. Which means the movie will be a joke! The article apparently made a typo on Matsuyama Airi’s name too, in case anyone suspects I’m linking to the wrong person.

The article also mentions that Higurashi sold 500,000 copies over the 9 games that were released, man that’s a lot. 07th Expansion sure came a long way from being a nameless circle. They had sold less than 100 copies back when watanagashi(chapter 2) was released too…

I dunno… the movie is going to be a joke because of the director, and more importantly, the cast members are all slightly too old. The members of Higurashi, save for Mion & Shion, all seem to be Middle School age, while the cast members seem to be high school level. But I could be wrong.

Anyway, they’d have to pull of something really effective for this movie to succeed at all.

Lastly, while this isn’t related: http://www.compileheart.com/agarest/ This PS3 game looks rather interesting.n Ecchi seems to be coming to the PS3 for real.

Well then, let’s put the movie right away into the Dark History closet.

This is about as good of an idea as the Negima live action series.

Cool to know that the games have sold over 500k copies, though.

That’s not that big a difference. Mion and Shion were around 16/17, and Keiichi and Rena were probably around 15. As long as Rika and Satoko are not upped to teenagers, it should be fine.

The character ages are a matter of ongoing debate.

Mion is going to graduate from *something* next year, so that makes her most likely either 14 or 18. And it’s known that Satoko and Rika haven’t reached puberty yet. Other then that, there’s no hard evidence.

    But Satoko has breats lol

I have to say after seeing the trailer for the live action on studio 6 website I have to agree that this moive will be a joke. Or at least not anywhere close to anything that is currently out.

Keiichi looks older than all of the other male characters ( except for the police officer), Satoko and Rika look to be around the same age as everyone else, and it almost looks cheese…

Um…I don’t know if this will work but here is the link to the trailer

Holy shit, that trailer had better be a joke. *shudder*

Lolz!~If that link was for the real movie I’d kill myself!

  12. Hanyuu-chan Says:

This is an absolutely horrible idea. If it’s released, those responsible will face Oyashiro-sama’s wrath!!!! >XD though I don’t think Hanyuu is all that wrathful… >.

  16. Mitsuki Says:

I know the info is not a joke, haven’t you seen the trailer?
I’m really happy to see a movie with Maeda Gôki because he’s not really famous yet… Waiting for the movie.

So, what the hell was going on with Rika’s hair? Sometimes it was long and other times it was short. I wasn’t a fan of the movie, but I guess it was due to lack of character development. If they actually plan on expanding it into the other arcs, it quite possibly could stand a chance.

The movie was good to me~! and the Ages are not off!!
    Maeda Goki was 16
    girl playing Mion was 17
(but girl playing Rena is like 18 <.<; )

girls playing satoko and Rika were slightly off~
But in the series there personalities was more off with there age~
in the movie their 13 and 14 as is the actor that play them and if you pay attention to their anime personalities, their way too mature for their seemingly 10 to 11 year old look
