Kira☆Star DVD jacket revealed

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

comparison.jpgTMA has updated their line up with the DVD jacket for their Lucky Star AV film, Kira☆Star. They’re actually re-enacting scenes from the anime! They even made the same casual clothes as in the anime! And that catch copy by Kuroi sensei… completely true but that’s not the kind of stuff you write on an AV cover! Though, I’m probably not the only person thinking of this. (NSFW)

Gothic lolita fashion enters gal culture

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

gosurorishuuryounoshirase.jpgThe fashion, girl mag, and trend watching blog Elastic reports that the latest issue of the gal fashion magazine Popteen is running a big feature on gothic lolita fashion. The blog author notes that although gal magazines have been running features on princess-style fashion for a while now due to influence from groups such as Liz Lisa, this is probably the first time that gothic lolita fashion was given such a large feature.

The blog author continues saying that gothic lolita fashion was a minority genre within a niche subculture, which was why it has managed to stick around for such a long time without becoming old and outdated. But due to movies such as NANA and Shimotsuma monogatari bringing public attention to the fashion, and the gothic lolita boom with the otaku community, the gothic lolita fashion has become quite mainstream.

And now that it has finally reached the point where gal culture is getting involved in gothic lolita too, the only way to go now is for gothic lolita to get completely spent as a fashion trend, and this is the end of the age of gothic lolita where ideals and soul formed the core of the fashion. Even the well known gothic lolita fashion brand h.NAOTO has joined the Tokyo Collection, it can be expected that gothic lolita will be making steps into mainstream fashion with time.

The author speculates that gothic lolita’s fusion with gal culture might result in a big increase in popularity, but just like the old kurogal fashions (yamanba and kogal), gothic lolita will fade away and be forgotten as one of the weirder fashions styles.

I wanted to add some personal thoughts, but this post got too huge.

Little Busters Natsume Rin auction

Friday, September 28th, 2007

miesounimienai.jpgThe auction for the 1/1 Natsume Rin figure is now up at yahoo auctions. They’re hoping for 5 million yen… I wonder if it’d get to that amount.

15 year old slashes friend with nata

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

oide, nata otokoTwo 15 year old boys got into a fight in school this morning and one of them attacked the other with a nata that has a 16cm long blade. Same weapon that Rena uses in Higurashi no naku koro ni, so can’t complain if they talk about Higurashi this time!

This was the closest thing to interesting news I could find! It might shoot up in relevance if Higurashi gets involved again though!?

School days final

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I completely understand why it was taken off the air now. There was no way the normal TV stations could have aired this. Everybody’s apologizing now for having thought that the TV stations were chicken to have cut the episode from the air.

1/1 Natsume Rin figure to be sold in auction

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

kuchakuchada.jpgThe 1/1 Natsume Rin figure that was at the Little Busters exhibition that was held earlier in the year has apparently been put on display at Kotobukiya Radio Kaikan with a notice saying that the figure will be put up on Yahoo auctions starting from September 28th and ending on October 4th.

The figure weighs 30 kg and is approximately 176cm x 100cm x 130cm when packed in a wooden box for delivery. Kotobukiya Radio Kaikan is the branch that’s just outside the Akihabara station if you want to take look at it. (except you’d have to be there before Oct 4th)

The winner of the auction will also get a mystery gift from Visual Arts.

I don’t know if anybody still remembers that case from several years back, but I wonder if the legendary ayuayuwing will appear again…

Akatsuki Blitzkampf going to arcades

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

newtrend.jpgThe November issue of Arcadia magazine apparently has a scoop on Akatsuki Blitzkampf AC, which is going to be the arcade version of the Akatsuki Blitzkampf, a doujin 2D fighter developed by Subtle Style. I wish I could say Big Bang Beat will probably be next, but that doujin circle has already fallen apart

School Days final ep will be airing on AT-X

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

victory.jpgAT-X has announced that they will be changing the airing times for School Days, but they will be airing the final episode tomorrow night. Overflow will be crying when they see that nobody is turning up for their screening event anymore! Same announcement also on School Days anime website.

Update: Overflow has now updated the details regarding the School Days ep 12 screening and has changed the requirements to say that it doesn’t matter if your copy of School Days/Summer Days is opened or not. They will be holding the screening tomorrow, 30 minutes after the episode airs on AT-X.

Nice boat in the newspapers

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

nicenewspaper.jpgThe evening edition of the Yomiuri newspaper has an article on the “Nice boat” phrase that’s being used on the net. Maybe the phrase will become a big hit with normal people and get used by everyone all over the world! (or not)
