Vocaloid 2 in the world of professional music?
Vocaloid 2 is a singing synthesizer developed by Yamaha which allows users to generate singing by inputting the lyrics and notes for their song. It has been gaining popularity on the net after the new version Hatsune Miku was released, hitting #1 on the Amazon sales rankings despite the 15,750 yen price tag.
dRESS, the main composer for music group ave;new, has apparently used Vocaloid 2 to make a Hatsune Miku version of their popular song “True my heart” and posted it up on their blog. He put it through the entire process, even involving vocal producer Netomo Hidemi and bringing it into the studio to mix the pitch and volume.
The original vocalist for the song, Sakura Saori, also comments on the Vocaloid version saying that a strong rival has appeared.
I like ave;new because they do stupid things like this.
edit: I just realised that a Vocaloid-only doujin event has just been announced today. How fast do these people move!

Why is it the only thing I can think of is “Sharon Apple project - step 1″?

Vocaloid is absolutely wonderful. I want to grab a copy of this software and see what I can do with it. Hatsune Miku is made of delicious win.

The website says it supports rewire and vst. I wonder if it would work with english recording software…

I searched on google and found that there is an english version that is using the Vocaloid 2 engine. But I checking the demos, it’s definitely far from being as good as Hatsune Miku.
Though, the Japanese language is definitely easier to produce a singing synthesizer for because of how complex English is…
