Conspiracy theories please

dentsuuka.jpgI don’t really know what’s happening right now, but you can’t find a single image of Hatsune Miku on google images if you try searching. The Japanese wikipedia page for Hatsune Miku has also been deleted for suspected copyright violation.

Hatsune Miku images come up by the truckloads if you use the same search term in other search engines such as Live search, goo image search, or livedoor image search.

If you search Hatsune Miku on Yahoo China, you’d get images of her, but if you search on Yahoo Japan, you get zero hits.

The popular theory is that Dentsuu is trying to remove Hatsune Miku because she’s more popular than their virtual idol Date Kyouko.

What I’ve gathered from around the net, owner of copyrights on derivative works is the copyright holder of the original material. Haven’t yet read anything that implies that the maker of the derivative work loses all copyright in the work he has created but sure hope it isn’t that way.

And I don’t think that angering the fandom is the wisest thing to do. And deleting the wikipedia article seems as way too much overreaction.

But isn’t Date Kyoko like… 10 years old?

  3. Espr Says:

I’d like them to try and stop all the Nicovids of Miku… XD

Good luck trying to remove Miku from the net…you’ve unleashed something that can’t be put back in the box.

Damn, the persecution must end ! We need to help Miku…. oh wait, it’s a Japan problem (it can only be solved by Japanese otakun)

Damn ! Not much we can do.

    Date Kyoko is ewwww.

  6. yamaha guy Says:

Goddamn Dentsuu. For other things as well.

How can they change the results off Google Images though…?

Copyright on Japanese wiki is idiotic. I don’t believe in a copyright that scares all the users from putting up so much as a miniscule picture of a work to illustrate it.
