86.5% think that manga and illustrations should be subject to child porn laws

omaeranamidame.jpgITmedia reports that the Japanese Cabinet Office has conducted a survey on whether manga and illustrations should be subject to child porn laws, and 58.9% have answered that it should, and another 27.6% answered that if they had to pick between the choices, they lean towards that the law should apply.

Only 6.6% answered that they lean towards that the law should not apply, and only 2.5% answered that the law should not apply at all. 4.5% answered that they don’t know.

Also, 90.9% feel that possession of child porn should be restricted, 63.2% feel that the government should regulate harmful content in magazines, DVDs, and games etc to keep them away from the children, and 90.9% feel that the government should regulate harmful content on the internet from children.

The survey was conducted by individual face to face interviews with 3000 people aged 20 and above across the whole of Japan.

I wonder what they’re trying to do, after all these recent events on censorship. And I love their method of conducting the survey.

Not related but related.

LOL what a joke that google news was, as it’s proved that most kid sex offenders is not even pedophiles but very sick peoples who don’t what what limits are, and go for kids because they are the easiest targets, not because thats the target they want.

In any event, I’m against all censorship specially related to censorships who have nothing to do with hurting others. Fantasy related things shouldn’t be count into stupid laws like this, if it do, a lot of victim less crimes will start to pop up and thats just messed up.

What happened to you Japan? You used to be so cool!

“All the elementary school kids in sukumizu depicted in this doujin are certified to be over 20. No exception.”

  4. Ayu Says:

They should of conducted the survey via 2ch. I’d personally like to see those results.

  5. Espr Says:

Just substitute the government of Japan with 2ch. I’m sure it’ll all work out.

Government for the people BY the people and whatnot.

  6. Zotmeister Says:

That’s “should HAVE”, not “should OF” (I’ve been blasted myself over that one), and given the nature of 2ch, nothing’s stopping them from doing it themselves. I’m sure all it’ll take is one person to suggest it, assuming it hasn’t been started already. - ZM

That’s probably a cover of LO, since Takamichi does the cover artwork for each issue of LO, a lolicon magazine.

  8. Zepy Says:

That’s the cover for the issue of LO that was released last week

  9. Tyrenol Says:

    1767 (responded) / 3000 (polled) = 58.9%
    86.5% * 1767 (responded) = 1528 (responded against pedophilia)
    1528(responded against pedophilia) / 3000 (responded) = 50.9 %

That’s still more than enough for a lynching on said pedophiles.

Seriously… I would like to hear from someone who DOESN’T wanna protect the children.

Finally: Japan WAS cool! Samurai? Ninjas? Crab meat wrapped around rice and seaweed? Their CARS?!

  10. Musashi Says:

“HEY I’M DOING A SURVEY DO YOU CARE ABOUT CHILDREN OR ARE YOU A SICK PEDOPHILE WHO WANTS TO FUCK BABIES?”

There is no way to disagree with the child porn laws and not look like a pedophile, so of course people would support it. What a bullshit survey.

Exactly! If this was a online survey, I’ll bet the results would be drastically different. Especially considering Japan and most other Asian countries social structure. With such a collective society, anything that makes you different from everyone else is generally avoided (individualism is not nearly as strong as it is in the U.S. where individualism is everything, ditch your friends for mucho money!). Claiming that you like loli is not exactly the norm so it’s more likely that they will answer the same as everyone else rather than show their own opinion. Now online however, there is a sense of anonymous allow the people to express their true feelings.

… or at least this is what I learned from Psychology classes….

This is almost laughable, in most cases (unless it’s slice of life animation/drawings) it’s impossible to prove the characters age. good examples are sasami(tenchi muyo) or shana(shakugan no shana) where they look like children, but are far older.

also 3000 people, out of what, a population of 50 million or more? haha.

Come on now, lets keep the fight against the real sickos rapin’ kids, and not off fake fantasy illustrations.
