Manga: Kamisama dolls

Kamisama dolls is a manga by Yamamura Hajime about a bunch of people who are able to control dolls which are supposedly the empty shells of gods. The Gurren Lagann director Imaishi Hiroyuki is apparently also a long time fan of the author and recommends the book! (or so the spine card says)

Kuga Kyouhei is a college student who was planning to confess his love to Shiba Hibino during a party, but they end up finding a dead body in the elevator instead. On the way home, Kyouhei gets attacked again, and when he finally reaches home he sees his little sister Utao from his hometown waiting for him.

Utao is here after a man called Aki who is somehow related to Kyouhei’s past back in their hometown, and Aki is here to meet Kyouhei to have a friendly talk or something using some big knives.

The cover may give some people the impression that the manga is one of those slice of life + fantasy stuff, but there’s no need to worry(?) because there are ample amounts of blood and violence available in the story as Aki cuts everybody up!

Though aside from the action, half of the manga is made up of how clumsy Utao is in everything she does, especially with how she controls her god. Like how she is practising trying to pick up stuff from underwater, but ends up throwing a car up into the air from the water.

The other half is about the great Utao expressions.
So yeah the first book was released a few months back and the manga is currently running in Sunday GX.

Hmm.. I can tell this would make a good Gainax anime. Too many sill facial expressions, big flashy scenes that would look nice animated, but seem to be made up of few frames, and an ‘interesting’ storyline.
Not that I hate Gainax anime… I dunno.

Gainax? I preffer Bones or Gonzo. A good director would be fine too. Maybe in the future…?

GONZO’s cool, but the West is really pimpin’ them, and GONZO is guilty of emphasizing on action instead of plot, and sometimes messing aroudn with their plots. That being said, their “NHK” was the best; they changed it from a defeatist story to a well-meaning one.
In case anyone didn’t figure it out, I was busys arcastic about Gainax…. the’re not all that. I prefer Bones,a s well as KyoAni.
