Not enough Smash Brothers to go around

アッ―!Video games and hobby chain Lepton has reported on their website that they are unable to meet the preorders of Smash Brothers X that people have made in their stores because they only managed to secure 156 copies of the game when they ordered 806 from Nintendo.

Lepton has tried to buy the games at full price from other sources just so they can fill the preorders, but nobody as any stock. They have then managed to secure an additional 100 copies of the game at 7350 yen each, which is at a price that is even higher than the selling price of the game which is 6800 yen (they’ll be losing money with each sale).

They still do not have enough copies of the game to fill preorders.

The first shipment is only 300,000 to 400,000 copies apparently, and priority for copies of the game is going to stores that are affiliated with the manufacturer. Lepton isn’t one of them.

Looks like a lot of people will not have their game next week…

    That certainly meets my predictions.
I was talking to a friend the other day about how the game was delayed to give some breathing room to fulfill a gargantuan level of demand. The Japanese didn’t get a delay as long as the American release to create a window to make more discs for the Japanese market, to try and make for the initial demand surge, or at least that’s how I see it.

    Nintendo? Artificially short supply?

I’ve never heard of this before!

obviously! US gets a whole month for them to make more copies, while Japan only gets a week. Obviously there’s gonna be a shortage if you try to make a lot in only one week. So, it’s worth waiting a month for us USA.

They should’ve delayed theirs by 2 weeks.
