Kinoko had actually already finished writing the plot for what would have been the first movie, but he read their script and found it really good and decided that he didn't have to rewrite the story afterall. The rewritten plot was apparently really good too. But the rest of the world will never get to see it. It's good to see that ufotable is getting a chance to do some more serious material and I'm glad they are getting the recognition they deserve for it.
