Trouble Witches arcade edition in 2008

Friday, January 25th, 2008

ome.jpgDoujin circle Studio Siesta has announced on their site that their horizontal scrolling shooter Trouble Witches will be hitting the arcades in 2008. They haven’t released any details on how the arcade version will be like, but they have revealed that the arcade version will support 2 player play.

They have also announced that they are in the process of making a major update for the PC version of the game which they plan to release in March. (The patch will be different from the arcade version)

These doujin game stuff are taking over the arcades…!?

Kara no kyoukai’s first movie sets records

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

hayakumitai.jpgShinjuku keizai reports that the first Kara no kyoukai movie which had started airing on the 1st of December has experienced record success at Theatre Shinjuku, having about 20,000 people watching the movie in 4 weeks and setting records for the number of days in a row where the theatre is full.

They originally only planned to have one evening show at Theatre Shinjuku everyday, but after seeing the incredible demand for the movie, they quickly added a morning show to keep up with the demand. They ended up having a total of 70 showings at Theatre Shinjuku and a total of 19,137 viewers for the first movie.

They allow a limited number of people to watch the movie while standing, and there are only 218 seats in the theatre, so basically there is an average of 55 people standing and watching the movie with every showing.

The article reports that the theatre has not seen such record success since it has been set up, and Theatre Shinjuku has been around since 1968 and had a renewal in 1988.

The movie only aired in Theatre Shinjuku (late show and morning show) and Ikebukuro Theatre Dia (morning show only), which is part of the reason why there has been such high demand for the movie in those theatres.

I thought the first movie was totally awesome. The ufotable guys really knew their stuff, it’s definitely the best Type-moon anime by far. But maaan, I wonder how the guys who haven’t read the novel felt about the movie.

Not enough Smash Brothers to go around

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

アッ―!Video games and hobby chain Lepton has reported on their website that they are unable to meet the preorders of Smash Brothers X that people have made in their stores because they only managed to secure 156 copies of the game when they ordered 806 from Nintendo.

Lepton has tried to buy the games at full price from other sources just so they can fill the preorders, but nobody as any stock. They have then managed to secure an additional 100 copies of the game at 7350 yen each, which is at a price that is even higher than the selling price of the game which is 6800 yen (they’ll be losing money with each sale).

They still do not have enough copies of the game to fill preorders.

The first shipment is only 300,000 to 400,000 copies apparently, and priority for copies of the game is going to stores that are affiliated with the manufacturer. Lepton isn’t one of them.

Looks like a lot of people will not have their game next week…

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

sweets.jpgJapanese blog Spiral Market has a feature on the popular designer hotels scattered around Japan where all the popular guys know to bring the girls to! The rates for the rooms aren’t really too expensive but it’s apparently really hard to book a room in the hotels.

The site has pics and links to the hotel’s websites so take a look.

With this info you can master the art of sweets(lol) and get the girls!

Sumire Sixteen!! gets TV drama too

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

ayashii.jpgDaienjou reports that the latest issue of Magazine SPECIAL has announced that the wonderful manga Sumire Sixteen!! will be made into a TV drama too. Sumire Sixteen!! is about Yotsuya Sumire who’s an ordinary highschool girl that’s really a puppet being carried around by a ventriloquist.

I’ve always been meaning to introduce this manga on the site for a while but never got around to it either…!

Mitsurugi Haruka kiken ippatsu live drama

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

dounarunda.jpgIn a surprise move, the Comic Valkyrie official site has announced that the currently ongoing manga Mitsurugi Haruka kiken ippatsu will be made into a live action drama by ZEN pictures, who are “famous for action films featuring fighting girls”. The show will start 7th March and will run for 4 episodes.

Mitsurugi Haruka kiken ippatsu is a pretty unique manga in that it runs in a gamebook style, where Haruka would get into some sort of dangerous situation, and you flip to a certain page in the magazine to decide what she’ll do next. And at the end of every chapter, they have a mail-in poll where the readers get to decide what she should do in the next chapter.

I’ve been meaning to write about this manga since it was the only thing that really caught my attention in Comic Valkyrie.

Morning Musume hits 0.8% viewership

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

mouowata.jpgIn completely unrelated news, J-cast reports that the idol unit Morning Musume’s only regular TV show, Haromoni@, has finally hit a record low 0.8% viewership. I’m surprised that they’re still going after 10 years, but it sounds like it’s finally time for them to end!

Lots of the old fans don’t even know a single one of the current members apparently.
