2000 queue at midnight for To Heart 2 AD

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

323sama.jpgTo Heart 2 Another Days was released last night in Akiba at midnight and there were approximately 2000 people around queuing for the game apparently, according to Akibablog. This is the highest turnout in Akiba yet for midnight eroge releases.

Amazing amount of people considering that it’s midnight on Thursday!

The trains wouldn’t be running by the time they get their game too… I wonder if the guys without cars would spend the night away in a net cafe or something.

AKB48 strategy cancelled due to legality issues

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

takeee.jpgDefSTAR Records has announced that they are cancelling their wonderful business strategy of getting people to collect 44 different randomly selected posters in order to get to go to a special event because it might be against the law.

So as compensation to those people that bought 150 copies of AKB48’s singles, they will be allowing people to return their unopened CDs and posters for a refund.

Naruko Hanaharu’s first eromanga tankoubon

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

hanaharudakehagati.jpgNaruko Hanaharu is a long time veteran in eromanga who had been quite popular for a while, but had never had a tankoubon release for some reason. But all that’s going to change now because the latest issue of Kairakuten has announced that they will be releasing his first tankoubon soon.

Hanaharu has always been one of my favourites because his eromanga was always one of those rare ones that were a good read with good ero. Though he hasn’t really been doing any eromanga lately ever since he started that Kamichu manga a few years ago…

Umineko no naku koro ni 2

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

fantasy.jpgThe second game for Umineko no naku koro ni was released during the winter comiket. I’ve been forgetting to play it for a while, but I finished it over the weekend. And… yeah. There isn’t much that I can think of to comment about this game, but… (spoilers)

Shounen Magazine + Shounen Sunday

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

magisternagima.jpgNHK news reports that Shounen Magazine and Shounen Sunday will be collaborating to release a biweekly magazine starting from late April this year. Currently they’ve only announced that they will publish the more popular chapters of Conan and Kindaichi in the magazine.

Both Shounen Magazine and Shounen Sunday started in 1959 March and have been rivals for a long time. But they have been dropping in sales every year recently, with Sunday at 935,000 books sold and Shounen Magazine at 1,870,000 books sold in 2007, less than half of what they were doing back when they were at their peak.

They haven’t said anything else about the contents of the magazine aside from having old stuff from Conan and Kindaichi, I hope it’ll have some good manga.

I was just telling somebody the other day that I wished that Hata Kenjirou was in Shounen Magazine instead so that he could mess around with Kumeda…

The problems that plague the eroge industry

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

erogeowata.jpgIt has become a popular topic recently to talk about the declining eroge industry and its impending doom apparently. This post is mostly translating what people have been saying, and this is also an extremely long post that you don’t want to read!

AKB48’s wonderful business strategies

Monday, February 25th, 2008

takeee.jpgIdol group AKB48 has recently announced on their official blog that if you buy their any of the three types of their latest single Sakura no hanabira 2008 from the AKB48 Theatre, you get a free randomly chosen poster from a total of 44 different posters.

If you collect all 44 different posters, you can get to go some mysterious special event called Haru no saiten.

Even if you manage to buy 44 copies of the single and get every single poster without any doubles, it will already cost at least 55,000 yen (US$510), and chances of that happening is 0.000000000000013%. (that is, if there is an equal chance of getting each poster)

Just a month ago AKB48 was selling some Photo album that costs 48,000 yen (US$450), and comes with a ticket for a special AKB48 concert which will be held in 2015 (if they still exist at that time).

Grana Embrace

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

classicsuge.jpgDoujin circle ClassiC shikoukairo has released the trial test version of their upcoming SRPG Grana Embrace for download. They actually released the first test demo during summer comiket last year, they sure took a long time to release a web version!

I wonder if they can manage to release the game in 2008…

Naked girls eating bananas in the bath for the Wii

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

nanikore.jpgFamitsu.com has revealed some sample shots from the upcoming cleaning game for the Wii, Osouji Sentai Clean Keeper, which is slated for release on 24th April. The CG featured in the article are given as rewards in the game after winning battles apparently.

The game is supposed to be about the king of dirt trying to dirty your school and you have to clean and protect your school from dirt by maintaining good relations with the cleaning fairies and the girls in school and create cleaning sentai that will save the world from dirt by eating bananas while naked in the bath.

Nice to see yet another Wii game that the entire family can enjoy!

Crypton removes restrictions on doujin games

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

matakita.jpgEjin kenkyuusho brings news regarding their correspondence with Crypton on their Hatsune Miku doujin game which was asked to be removed from distribution 2 weeks ago. Crypton had actually approved their game for distribution again, though with a change in the game’s title as requested by Crypton.

Though, the biggest change is that Crypton has revised their official guidelines where it comes to doujin games. Previously, the guidelines said that all games were not allowed, but they’ve now completely removed that bit in the guidelines, and people are free to make and distribute doujin games as long as it doesn’t damage their product image.
