I have high hopes for anything Yamakan is doing. He basically set up Lucky Star and although he left after four eps, it didn't seem to change that much to me. But his big achievements for me were the Suzumiya Haruhi ED and the Lucky Star OP. I think those were huge factors in the success of both series.

I think he has a great weird sense of humor. He wrote, directed, and storyboarded ep00 of Haruhi, too, as well as the concert episode. KyoAni is certainly "not obliged" to use the same staff for Haruhi2, but I think that losing Yamakan was a bigger blow than people realize.

We'll see how Kannagi goes. I think Yamakan may have been fired for something like poor budget control or insulting sponsors, rather than for anything actually artistic. Gonzo will just have to give him a lot of administrative help.

"Does that mean we won’t get a second season of Lucky Star for a long time?
Or does that mean if we do get a second season, it’ll be completely different?"

He was already replaced by Takemoto Yasuhiro (who will direct Haruhi next) after Ep. 4. In any case, KyoAni isn't obliged to appoint the original staff if they ever do another season of Lucky Star.

>Anonymous
Yamakan only did a handful of episodes at the start of the series before he was taken off and replaced with Takemoto because he "wasn't good enough", so it doesn't really affect anything with Kyoani.

>Jumbo
Hmm, Kannagi does have its great moments, but it doesn't come very frequently. I can't say I enjoy it much, but I don't dislike it that much that it's not worth the 550 yen for each book (so far).

I haven't found it as interesting as her anthology works at least.

Kurata Hideyuki script? Sign me up.

Zepy, what are your feelings on the manga for this? I've been on the fence for this one for a while now and might cave now.
