Haruhi doujin game gets canned by Kadokawa
Doujin circle souvenir circ has announced that they have been contacted by Kadokawa shoten to cease all distribution of their action doujin game Suzumiya Haruhi no gekitou. They’ve since taken off all info about the game from their website.
Kadokawa sure doesn’t think too kindly about fan works! They had requested for that massive wipe of all fan videos of Haruhi and Lucky star from youtube and nico douga a while back, and also stopped the sales of that awesome Keroro doujin game by ClassiC in 2004.
While we’re at this, CuteType’s doujin game Suzumiya Haruhi no gyakuten 3 has both Haruhi and Hatsune Miku, I wonder if anything is going to happen to them…!

Seems companies are already cracking down on doujin goods. I wonder just how far they’ll go…?

This honestly makes no sense. All this does is drive fans away :/

I know very little about Haruhi, but I’m totally loving the concept of CuteType’s game. I sure hope they don’t get nixed as well D:

This is really starting to become a bothersome case, if you ask me. Thank goodness I got this game before Kodokawa gave the notice but it does suck that companies are driving away fans like this.

I’d guess the reason they’re cracking down on these kind of games is they’re more fun then the official ones. I haven’t played any of the Haruhi games, but from what I’ve seen of this one it looked more interesting than the official ones. They don’t care about porn games because that’s not competing with their own product.

Kadokawa seem like a bunch of asses. Not allowing doujin works of Lucky Star seems a tad incongruous to me. Anime characters that buy doujin stuff ought to be the fairest game.

I didn’t like Haruhi or Lucky Star…
You know: All these companies over in Japan are talking about how much money they’re losing at this day and age. Frankly I don’t understand why these circus clowns don’t just join the bandwagon and cash in.
I mean: “Nobody likes Viral Marketing,” right? However…
I heard of that Chinese movie that was made a long time ago. About some emperor who placed A LOT OF money on the ground in order for his enemy to pick it up. He stated that by picking up the money, she “bowwed down to him.” She stood firm and didn’t pick up the money.
Kadokawa is NOT that Chinese woman. We, the fanbase these companies so desperately want the money from, are the Emperors.

man i should have got this game while it was in the shops… This is (was?) the 4 player fighting game that plays a little like Capcom’s PowerStone, right?

hmm, this is worrying news.
I wonder how far this will go, and if other companies start to take the same action.
