AKB48′s wonderful business strategies
Idol group AKB48 has recently announced on their official blog that if you buy their any of the three types of their latest single Sakura no hanabira 2008 from the AKB48 Theatre, you get a free randomly chosen poster from a total of 44 different posters.
If you collect all 44 different posters, you can get to go some mysterious special event called Haru no saiten.
Even if you manage to buy 44 copies of the single and get every single poster without any doubles, it will already cost at least 55,000 yen (US$510), and chances of that happening is 0.000000000000013%. (that is, if there is an equal chance of getting each poster)
Just a month ago AKB48 was selling some Photo album that costs 48,000 yen (US$450), and comes with a ticket for a special AKB48 concert which will be held in 2015 (if they still exist at that time).
