Actually, i was in Akihabara several time in August of 2007 and i'm 30.
And yes/no, i'm a no/yes-life. ;p
I went to Comiket 72 on Friday and Sunday, was quite fun.
Also i bought qite much Lycee, chasing down meganekko cards and also buying some Magic the Gathering along the way.
I met several otaku there, went to several maid cafes.
Damn, maid cafes are quite expensive, other than meeting otaku and for the occasional relax, i would avoid them.
And the porn, the masses and mases of 2D porn in various media, it was TOO much.
And idols, i just don't understand the appeal of idols.
Meh, as a otaku of meganekko and otaku culture, i don't really appreciate the various otakuisms.
Well, i did enjoy seeing a weapons shops, a replica gun shop, a miniature train shop and a back-alley doujin shop.
There were also some electronics shops, slectronics like in transistors, LEDs, capacitors, resistors, chips, whatever more and i liked those.
And the card game shops were nice too.

Are you the same as the one from NUS... I wonder....
Oh, and how would you define 'old'... I wouldn't consider 30+ 'old='

I actually went for this, and yes I was quite a waste of time. The goodie bag was nice though :)

Funny enough, everyone else but me and my 2 other friends were old people....

Waste of time, perhaps, but I guess its shows that the seemingly 'large' amount of otakun in Japan may actually be other Asians. Including Hong Kongers.

Not too surprised to see Singaporeans there, since we have a bustling community of those no-life guys. (and no, I don't waste my money to go to Japan, even if I find all this curiously interesting)

Someday, someday, more people will know this sub-cculture of Japanese otakun-dom.
