Azuma Takeshi debuts in Shounen Sunday

kimigabuchi.jpgI missed this somewhat, but Azuma Takeshi AKA Entokkun AKA Kimimaru AKA Studio Kimigabuchi had finally made his debut in Shounen Sunday, 7 years after he was originally introduced to the Shounen Sunday editorial staff when he tried to become a shoujo manga artist at a different magazine.

It’s a love comedy one-shot comic called “Change boy” in this week’s issue of Shounen Sunday (issue 15), and if the reception is good he might finally get his first serialization.

Though he probably won’t get serialized till at least 2009 even if the reception is good considering how there will be 4 new serializations in the magazine over the next 6 issues.

Azuma Takeshi has actually been doing one-shot comics irregularly in their supplementary magazine Shounen Sunday Chou, but this is the first time he has managed to get onto the main magazine itself.

I haven’t been reading much of his doujin stuff ever since he changed his pen name to Kimimaru, but RETAKE wasn’t too bad. Though I’m not sure if he’s suitable for Shounen Sunday.

    Re-Take was awesome. Looking at the Kimigabuchi site, it seems 2 new Re-Take volumes have been released- an all-ages version of the first 2 volumes, & something called Re-Take 1.5 which takes place between 1 & 2. Looking around, I can’t find this 1.5 anywhere. ;;_;;

    So… he worked on shoujo as well ?

    I wonder if his upcoming shounen series will have a few shoujo traits…

  4. Zepy Says:

    He *wanted* to do shoujo, but he showed the magazine’s editorial staff the shoujo manga that he drew and they told him he was more suitable for shounen sent him to Shounen Sunday instead.

    So… technically, he never did shoujo.

    wh- it ate the rest of my comment. Lame. D: Anyway. RE-TAKE has an excellent plot. I was glad that the porny bits weren’t the main focus.

    Neb - …1.5? I know that 0 went in between 2 and 3 , but I’ve never heard of one that went between 1 and 2. Where did you see it talk about that on the site?
