Artist arrested for indecent acts with 15 year old
Yomiuri online reports that computer programmer Ishii Meguru, age 25, has been arrested in Yokohama for having committed indecent acts with a 15 year old girl through November and December last year for a total of 4 times.
The article reports that Ishii Meguru was an artist for the novelized version of Higurashi no naku koro ni (though he only did some art for Ichijinsha’s novel anthologies, the artist for the official higurashi novels is Tomohi), and that he was also popular among fans of gothic lolita.
It is also reported that he got a female fan who posted on his blog last September to give him money if she really liked him, and called her to a hotel and collected 150,000 yen (US$1500) from her.

I wonder if they’re going to use this as fuel to push for censorship of underage-looking girls in art, or if they’ll put the blame on Higurashi somehow. The media seems to put everything on Higurashi recently.

Maybe because Higurashi has less Big Names and Big Creators behind it so they feel like they’re pissing less people off… hey, these guys weren’t professionals really so it’s okay to make their stuff a scapegoat.

Higurashi seems to becoming very controversial these days. First the murder cases, and now this.

Actually when you think about it, it’s not that very related to Higurashi at all. The low-life just so happened to have drawn some pictures for the series, that’s all, nothing else.

Oh yeah I completely forgot to mention about this, but there have been at least two other murder/violence cases (that I didn’t post about) over the past 4 months where Higurashi got mentioned as being a possible influence because the suspects involved had anime or manga in their possessions.
It kinda felt like I’d be repeating myself over and over again to post about them so I just ignored them!?

I belive the moral to this story is this:
Shoddily plotted anime, seen by undisciplined moron, will cause them to do stupid things. Whether it’s murder or pedophilia.
I wouldn’t be surprised: The same people who go out of their way to diss “Shonen Jump”-esque titles wonder why their fellow moe animu fans are doing such stupid things.

I think a better angle to take is: undisciplined moron(s) who do stupid (harmful, disturbing) things, whether it is murder or pedophilia, will gravitate towards stupid (disturbing) stuff, such as shoddily plotted (moe) anime. A dumb show will lowbrow content isn’t going to cause otherwise sane people do awful things. However, if someone already has an unhealthy fetish - pedophiles, let’s say - then he is going to seek an outlet for his fantasies. Moe anime, manga, and video games provide that outlet. Thus, ten pedophiles have copies of the same show. Watching the show didn’t *cause* him do it, but the fact that he indulged in the show proves that he had those fantasies to begin with.
For the record, I don’t know if “Higurashi” is moe or not, or even ifs an anime; I’m just going on what others are posting here. Sorry if I made a mistake. :P

I actually like trance, but i don’t diss other music genres on their styles.
But anyway, this yandere crap like Higurashi, School Days, etc. and also that moe-crap like Moe-Tan and Kodomo no Jikan should be discouraged, cause it ain’t have a good influence and will attract and encourage the creeps.
Nothing against a mind-fuck show [like Perfect Blue] or a good old tentacle spectacle [like Urotsukidouji; not that i want to watch that crap either], but some things should be barred from being showed on TV or promoted, lolicon and school massacres being.
And as for this artist, what goes around comes around, he deserves it.
