You mean like a short OVA or a series???

  4. BlackAdder Says:

Alright, I don’t know what’s worse: the current moe fandom that’s gone overboard….. or reviving a 40-year old anime series that’s so damnedly long, has an overly huge fanbase, and is pretty much anachronistic.

And damn, if it is another one of those long series….. Oh bloody hell.

well im just happy that there going to have a new thing for DB……….i hoppe they make the dragonball AF or V ……..that has been arround as doujinshi……….well even if is an OAV ill be happy to see it and buy it but i hoppe the opening song is as good as Dragobball GT……….

Actually, googling “DBZ” would more often than not give you a negative primer due to the reasons you posted. And anachronism isn’t exactly a fault - cartoon watchers have been swallowing that form of storytelling up for over a couple decades now.

And so what? Dragon Ball was probably the most entertaining piece of hand-drawn goodness I’ve ever seen. Characters at the time didn’t have to be emo just so they can exude the ever-present facade of being “deep” - hell, characters didn’t even need to be “deep” back then!

    >40-year old anime
    according to the wiki http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B4%E3%83%B3%E3%83%9C%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB
db started in 1984, your calculus sucks.
the 40th anniversary is prolly for the magazine, which i could give a shit about

    >Characters at the time didn’t have to be emo
ill fucking sign off on that

This kinds reminds me of the whole Golden Age versus Modern age in Western comics. Guess some things are universal.

Well, 40 year old magazine, 24 year old anime, and by all account old.

I think some anime viewers out there do prefer ‘the deep’, especially without the unncessary ‘emo’.

As to the anachronism department… that’s the thing. Sure, they’ve swallowed it for edecades, but people do prefer different changes in storytelling, or something completely different from time to time.

I guess it’s also a reflection of the differences in generation… I do find it a fault that I don’t appreciate DBZ myself, actually (though that doesn’t mean I support a return to the past).
