Mx0 to end in Shounen Jump
The usual Jump insider on 2ch has revealed that Mx0 will end soon in the coming issues. I don’t post about comics getting cut from Jump, but I liked Mx0 so I’m posting about it! Man I thought it would survive a little longer. Also getting cut from Jump are Poseidon and Hatsukoi gentei.

Additional note: Just in case anybody misreads, Mx0 is going to end in the next 3-4 chapters or so, it’s not going to end immediately in the next issue of Jump.

I only really started reading Mx0 a few weeks ago, and I felt it was going to end up becoming one of those series which go on forever. I also quite liked it, which was a surprise considering my earlier feelings.

this is one of the better mangas out there. while naruto has more wide appeal, the current arcs would be a joke if it weren’t for the amazing foundation lain by the beginning chapters. Bleach is a roller coaster, but never has consistency about whether it’s good or not (Huenco whatever arc sucks while this pendulum one was ok).
It’s really a shame if the source is japanese sales. And since when was Mx0 a show? o.O Thought it was a series.
Hatsukoi is kind of understandable even though I found it semi-entertaining, but Mx0 was done really well. The game-system level (how a story incorporates rules without contradiction to explain future events such as fights/battles between two characters) while not amazing, is still far above average and at least higher than the current Naruto arcs. It’s an embarassment that Japan would acknowledge a trademark manga/series only because of it’s earlier establishments.
Or is it because, people are dumber than I thought and are really obsessed with ninjas and crap that wear orange jump suits that appeared in the 60s?
Then again, Mx0 definitely doesn’t have the aggressiveness to attract new readers. It’s only one of my recent findings for manga, and I’m a very objective picky person, so yes I do judge by cover to decide what to read first. Not saying it determines my final judgement, but as for the order of initial appeal. Mx0 is definitely lacking. Yet you’d expect the country of manga to at least be a bit less pathetic than oversea elitists.
^_^ Have to say, the class matches were by far the best in terms of battle. It’s light, yet it allowed the mangaka to show his depth and perspective for such things even if it is on a very childish level (Don’t complain, Naruto/bleach were even worse and only had the atmosphere of death to make up for it) which was, very satisfactory.
The only reason I can see these kind of series being shunned is something against ecchi =P cause by all means, this manga is hell lot better drawn than bleach and naruto. The only japanese series I could possibly understand to be super godly to a wide audience was Gundam Seed, since it included nerds/otakus AND fangirls.

Wait, this happened to PF too? Now that’s a damned shame, but I do think that PF ended on a good note. Sure, I wanted more, but it stopped at a good point. I hate to see MxO go, but I hope he can end it on a good note.

I find it hilarious how all these illiterate children are whining about MxO dying. You all read free scanslations online, and have never spent a single penny to support the manga or the artist. No matter how “popular” the manga may have been in your little piracy circles, they weren’t making any profits off of you, and Shueisha doesn’t give a shit how much you enjoy a manga if they’re not making any profits from it.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Mx0^2 myself. I wonder if it is ending because they plan to make an anime out of it like Azumanga Daioh. It’s probably just wishful thinking but some authors don’t want their stuff animated until the series is done after all.

I realize that as an American reading scanlations, my opinion does not (and probably should not) matter to the mangaka. I really just protest the fact that this is a good manga, with a decent overarching plot that was not in position to end this suddenly. Taiga had the other nine tasks to fully complete his black plate, there was the matter of somehow fulfilling the wish, the mystery of the true purpose of the Mx0…. the list of unresolved plot lines can go on and on. I really do not believe there is a way to satisfactorily resolve this in just 3-4 chapters. (Then again, I believe we’ve already ascertained my opinion counts for diddly-squat).

Honestly I don’t find this too surprising. The last few chapters have seemed really sped up, not as many fillers, and him getting new magic abilities rather quickly. I mean, he just got the black plate, and now has the chance to get a real plate so soon afterwards.
That being said, Mx0 was one of my most looked forward to manga every week, and will be greatly missed. I just wish it could have a little longer to have a decent ending instead of a rushed one.

Insert, the manga is getting canceled because of it’s lack of popularity in Japan, which means that even if all these “illiterate children” complaining here were to buy the manga, it would still be screwed. These guys are just voicing their frustration, and you don’t even know how many of them actually buy their manga, you just assume they pirate it. Not to mention that mx0 isn’t even licensed in English.

I dont really think a petition will solve anything. I heard Kano is stressed becouse of the pressure on him, and as mane have said, the series doesnt seem very popular in JP. We just can hope that he goes on a good holiday, and come back in shape to take the project again, maybe with another publisher.

A manga as well written and well executed as Mx0 can go on for 400 chapters easy without becoming stale. I hope that Yasuhiro Kano revisits the series eventually…

This doesn’t make any sense… Hatsukoi Limited makes sense since it seemed since the beginning to be a temporary test series, but Mx0 actually has been doing well in Japan. The volume sales have always made the top 10 list since volume 1 for the week released, which is the same for toLOVEru, which got an anime…

Oh, now that I’m done spaming, I’ve checked mangas that get kicked out of a weekly manga dstibutor, and it takes about 1year for the mangakas to find new distributors, so we’ll have to wait and see, so, as long as its not a personal reason, we might see this series again. We might even be lucky enough for this series to start selling its own volumes, like they do in America, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Here’s hopin though!

The Shounen Jump Audience revolves obviously around your cliched Shounen Manga’s. One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Eyeshield, Fairy Tail etc.
Its getting cut because it doesnt match the audience’s “preferences”. Doesnt mean Mx0 is bad or anything.
I doubt he is going to make his series come to a close just because its getting cut off from jump. Hopefully this event will not affect the plot in anyway and he should just wait until another magazine or publisher picks him up. Im sure someone will.
Think about it this way? When Manga from Jump got cut in the past… did they force close the manga? no it was just stopped publishing in the magazine.

damnit this makes no sense, ch96 at the end it says ch97 title is “the strongest magician appears before Kuzumi”
but the ch97 that was released was “what has happened to to go-getter kuzumi since getting his black plate”
GRRRRR why must mangaka authors be dictated and at live at the beck and call of the publishers. its because of them bleach and naruto fell from grace.

Hate to break it to all you people wanting him to switch to another magazine, but it’s not going to happen. Jump holds the rights to series even after they’ve been canceled, and they’re definately going to hold onto Mx0 (since it ran for a decent length) for overseas licensing/merchandise/maybe-eventually-anime profits.

What the hell. I read this series in one day, and became extremely attracted to it, then I learn that it will be canceled the day I read it. In my opinion, Mx0’s storyline possessed more depth than Naruto, Bleach, and Sket Dance combined. First of all, I don’t see what the author of Naruto is doing anymore. He is way to loving of the damned “uchiha” clan, and keeps making more “special moves” for his character, like Itachi’s “real” ultimate attack. Bleach is becoming more and more generic as Rukia was taken, even the Bleach movie that one chick was taken, then Orihime gets taken. What the hell’s next? CHAD? Also, I really see nothing in Sket Dance that Mx0 cannot offer. Of course, Mx0 probably appeals to my eyes and many of you others’ eyes due to the fact that it actually takes some thought to keep the storyline(for example, in Bleach, when Ichigo comes to fight Grimmjow, he gets this fucking MASSIVE powerup for no reason, thus allowing him to defeat Grimmjow. But even if Hueco Mundo powers up Hollow powers, his 11 seconds gets extended to like, 5 hours, and he gains this massive power boost later in the fight after he gets the shit beaten out of him.) I really preferred this story over much of Jump’s other crap, but I guess no can do. FUCK YOU JUMP, AND THE SHITTY LITTLE IDIOTS THAT READ BLEACH AND NARUTO THAT THINK ITS CLICHES RANK THE TOP OF ALL MANGA. (previous comment not directed towards all who read Bleach or Naruto, only those who think Bleach and Naruto are so original that they outclass a thoughtful story like Mx0.)
And yes, I do buy the Japanese editions of Mx0.

I read the whole MxO series in one day, and I enjoyed it so much, I went online to read more about it. But when I started reading up on it, I found out that it would be ending its serialization this month. How depressing.
The story really feels like it is only the beginning…

I just got hooked to Mx0 one week ago when i started reading it. It is so good that brought me to go on and read Pretty Face since knowing it’s from the same author. Really shocked at how PF had ended so rushly and now Mx0 faces the same fate too………

Mx0 was one of the better shônen series out there.
I can’t believe it got cancelled while some stupid other manga seem to run forever.
Mx0 had a really great potential and I enjoyed it a lot. It would be best if the series could transfer to another magazine.

i started reading Mx0 when i saw it like a year ago..
got hooked into it cuz its the same author as PF (which i enjoyed alot.. ch44 FTW xD)
oh well its not like i can do anything about it if it really goes to a close..
but still want to voice out my thanks to the author for creating such a great manga with a very interesting plot..

This is like a good fanfiction that has gone on for long chapters, never a dull moment, that suddenly goes discontinued. While it may receive an ending, it’ll be as though there was no ending because we will all be left with a feeling of dissatisfication. I, myself, am ignorant to how the manga business works, but if it is possible, I would like to see this manga continued. Whether it be a continuation, a sequal, an anime that will continue on even after where the manga left off, or whatever, I hope to see it in the near future. If that is not possible, or is possible but won’t happen anyway, I can still say that this was an enjoyable manga that was worth reading. This manga is something that the mangaka can, and likely is, proud of.

well, i think it is a good thing that the mangaka left alot out untold int he end even though i didnt like it. like so he can continue on it if he gets the chance and feels like it and finish the manga the way it should be. i also think that it should end that way because i have been thinking about the title and what it meant and i assumed that Mx0 means “MAGIC x(times) 0″ (he has not magic) and if kuzumi transfered and got a normal plate, he has magic now, and thyerefore the title wont make sense so if the mangaka continues the series, the can change the name to something elese.
also he didnt fast foreward that much into the future, 2 months isnt alot of time so we wont be missing anything. kuzumi would just be studying his ass of during the 2 months
i really enjoyed it the 99 chapters. but hey its life and we all have to move on, but its really difficult (especially me cuz i am addicted to the series)but..
i hope he can continue the series >.

I’m also shattered to receive the news that Mx0 is ending…though I have no right to say anything since I read them online, hence not supporting the mangaka as I should be…
Like somone has posted before me… this series will not be published in other magazine/book because the current JUMP owns the RIGHTS for the series for future ANIME,international-license, etc
All we can do is pray that angry mobs of japanese people will start sending letterbombs, etc to the company and beg them to bring it back XD
but considering it was ranked 15/22, I wouldn’t be suprised if there is no sequel…..

Firstly, I must agree to most of everyone’s thoughts “Argh, why is it ending.”, “What a crappy rushed ending.”, etc. This also means I’m going to have to hurry up and buy them Tankobon.
However I can’t think too negatively, there is sometimes hope for manga that end in a deux ex machina, for one recent example is Rozen Maiden. Put on hiatus by PEACH-PIT after some incident with BIRZ Comics, PEACH-PIT has recently accounced along with Weekly Young Jump that Rozen Maiden will be re-issued and continued. (On a side note, Good GOD the rushed ending for Rozen Maiden was REALLY crap, no seriously. Mx0’s ending is alot better.)
So enjoy the Mx0 already released, re-read it go otaku over it and hope for a similar miracle.

Well, like others have said, it sucks that it has ended. They just introduced the black plate and all, but hey, it happens. All I know is that they left it open to be picked up again. All it takes is some good fans trying to keep the word out about it and sooner or later a sequel will probably be started. I believe something like that happened with rosario+vampire.
Besides, with the idea that Taiga can start to learn magic, the M0 kinda becomes useless to him, becuse he would have to chose between it and magic. And there’s only so long that decision can be made before it becomes too repetitive. So I guess the next thing to as is, what the title of the sequel is going to be.

2. the vice principal were checking up on kuzumi…wonder where the plotline went.
3. Daimon just become a new rival to kuzumi

Seriously, one of the best mangas to come out in recent times…great comedy, good characters, and most importantly, the magic battles - how Kuzumi defeated his opponents despite not having any magic - was the crux of the manga. I hope Mx0 continues in a second form, with Kuzumi having returned to the school to kick magical ass!!

Well perhaps we should be somewhat relived with the ending. Afterall it’s not a open ending that can easily be picked up if shonen jump is smart enough to let the author write again. Aika ahve said in chp 89, if Kuzumi is returning they will still be in 2nd year. Maybe i am giving too much on false hope, but its better than nothing right haha.

Well the ending is kinda an open end, if u guys noe what i mean. Perhaps the author set it up this way so he can continue if Shonen Jump ever let him continue the story. There are actually quite alot of hints in last few chapters, that Kuzumi will be starting his second year if the story is going to continue. Let’s just hope Shonen Jump will smarten up and let Mx0 continue.

Actually the sells of Mx0 did pretty well, afterall its still one the top 10 selling manga in japan, and so was pretty face. Sometimes i just don’t know how decision of cutting mangas were made, afterall Shonen Jump didn’t even give a reply on why pretty face was cut even the series have already end like 4 years…and I don’t think they will do so for Mx0 as well. which is gay but thats life i guess.

Its also sad that HxH can come back alive eventhough the author don’t really care about the manga anymore, while u can see in the last few chapters, Kano is really trying to make it stay alive. God damnit i JUST finished the series than i go to wikipedia to get to know more about Mx0 than i click the link to this site and find out that its getting cut now im just friggin depressed and as i read the comments up there i got my hopes up that it will still be continued but then som1 said that SJ wont let that happen cause of a contract or something. Mx0 indeed has potential to be one of the best i was so looking forward to kuzumi comming back from the other school.

do u guys know that the last chapter is from volume 11 ? -_- i mean… chap 97 is from vol 10 but the finale chp is the start of vol 11 ( i think this manga is going to move to another magazine or something ) i dont wanna give hopes!!! but im just saying that is not like the SJ say to the author 2 or 3 days before the cut of the manga ” hey ! i wanth Mx0 to end ritgh now!” i dont think so… then again. we need to wait at leats till August ( is going to be a special one shot of Mizuki Kawashita ( the author of hatsukoi limited ) and maybe a answer from the shonen jump about Mx0 ….. or september for a 2 season in another magazine ( is allways like that i mean seasons ends on : march…may and the new seasons start allways on september )

Right, well fear not people! Remember it ended a week ago or so, maybe a month, it takes time to make a new season for Mx0. THe reason they most likely put Farewell Seinagi as THE END for Mx0, is because M is the same as Magic. If you put it like this, then:
Magic x 0 = 0. Meaning Magic ability = 0. Which is describing Taiga in these series, now that he’s starting to learn magic, I think theres coming a new title to the Mx0.
I believe the Manga will go on, but under a new name. Since Mx0 is wrong now that Taiga can use magic, probably something like Mx1.
Also when you think of it: Mx0. Remove the x and you get the M0. The Mzero plate. (M0 plate) for poeple who cant use magic.
now that he can use magic, the title have to be changed.

I really want it to continue, but I’ll have to disagree with SiniVII, simply because the author obviously skipped things he intended to do. The side-effect of using Mo that’s mentioned never goes anywhere(Mo wipes out the spell on the black plate) and it hardly matters that he got the black plate because as soon as he does, he gets shipped off to another school. Maybe something came up and they decided to skip forward a bit, but I doubt it. Horrible as it is, Mx0 is done with. At least with Shonen Jump anyways.

Man they never had Kuzumi get together with Aika v_v that sucks. it would be a good storyline that when he comes back it’s not so much about how he has to deal with magic, but more of that he tries to get together with Aika. It should be that at the end she can’t get her wish, so Kuzumi gets it for her and it ends that way. that would be a bit more satisfying ^_^

The story had a plot. That’s why I was kicked out of Jump.
Was it full of action? Yes. Intelligent fighting, even. The hero didn’t just spam kage bunshin, he thought through every encounter. Was it full of ecchi? Sure, it’s no toloveru, but it had some amount of it. Did it have a romance angle? Yep. It even had a ’sweet’ ending laid out.
But that’s where the problem was. It had an ending. There was no Hokage, no One-Piece, no … well, Bleach might be an exception, but for Naruto and One Piece, there’s that unreachable goal that the protagonist will probably never get in his lifetime. That’s what keeps those manga going, a weak plot with many episodic arcs to keep our short attention spans fixed.
Did I buy Mx0? No. But it’s not like I can just waltz up to any comic book store and buy one, like you could in Japan. But that’s not the point. I support the author and his/her story, it’s worthy of publishing, far better than Naruto or Bleach, or some seinen, even.
The premature end was disgusting, by the way. He/she shouldn’t have even bothered. I would have just put Kuzumi in a hot threesome without provocation (as a last desperate measure to rekindle interest :P). It’s not like I got any catharsis out of that – Kuzumi’s just become another typical shounen hero. He didn’t get the golden plate, make up for his lies, or anything.

Didn’t bother reading all of this but want to state that Mx0 will probably return, it’s happened before. He ended the story perfectly enough that it left a weird chapter closing effect. I would say it’s a subtle way of suggesting the new Mx0 will follow to this new school or his return to the first. One could only guess though…and if it’s as predictable as most manga’s then I would suggest those are the best bets. I still loved mx0 though…just found it predictable and plots that feel all too familiar. I would love to see him push this series farther. …

I finished Mx0 in just 5days, because its worth reading, and i was still wondering what magic he did use in the 1st chapter where he blew down the room and some student said something like “what kind of magic is that?!”
And WTF!? it ended already?! i was hoping he would get back something different, but i think hoping too much doesn’t do anything..

I recently had a sudden craving for Mx0, and I’ve just now finished re-reading it, a mere two days after starting. A testament to it’s ability to draw you in. It truly was an awesome manga, and had the potential to be even better. Now that it’s been this long and I haven’t heard anything about it’s revival, that probably it won’t happen. Rest in peace, Mx0, my only regret is that I was unable to support it before it ended by buying the volumes in English. That would only be the third manga I’ve ever bothered to do that for.

It is a shame that both the manga he works end up like that (Pretty Face and now Mx0).
I really hope that he decides to continue the story of Mx0 there are still so many things question left unanswered in the story but that it is him to decide.
I really enjoyed the story of how it was told and his idea of how the whole magic system works was really interesting and entertaining. Is so sad it had to end so fast. It would be really nice if they decide to continue the story in a near future.

This was a great series. One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach have all had good points. But they’re like roller coasters, only with less high points. MxO was consistently well written and showed so much promise. I hope the author is only taking a break from the series and will somehow continue it. As for Shonen Jump, axing this series was a bone head move.

Honestly while it does suck it was canceled (since I just found out about this manga less then a week ago and read through all of it already) at the very least it’s left open for a possible sequel. I feel sorry for the author to have not only this ended so quickly but also pretty face (which I have not read but will avoid if only to not be as disappointed as I am now) as well. Honestly I get it didn’t do well in Japan and all that but honestly isn’t there just as many manga fans in Japan as in America, considering how vastly more popular it is stateside why don’t they simply continue it in America? Honestly I don’t think that’s ever been done before but heck if it’s more popular here why not simply publish it stateside, I’d buy every volume of it until it ended. The manga was simply fantastic and it’s more interesting then anything I’ve read lately outside of Fairy Tail.

Too bad it’s finished that way, i don’t think that the end was due to lack of ideas, i mean, there were still so much to explain.
Sigh and i that was looking forward to buy it in my country…but now i don’t think it will ever be released….still hoping for a sequel…
P.S. Sure that there’s no way for us to be listened by these “genius” in Shounen Jump?A petiton online or something similar?

so we want it back he let it to open to a second season i want to know how much did the popl changed in the old school or what new magic does he has …

I agree with the others. MxO was a great manga to begin with. If there is anything we can do to bring this series back up… then we will do anything. *sigh*

it will be great if it have a second season, but only if the SJ staffs have the sense to bring it back up.

F*ck it! How about all that like mx0 build our own manga production firm?? We like this dudes work right? So lets pool a few dollars/euros here and there, and hire this dude for another season. We get a group to scanalate it (maybe make a small contribution for their services) and spread this stuff around on the internet for all our enjoyment. I know im oversimplyfing the process, but there’s got to be away we can “democratize” this process rather than have out tastes dictated to us.. grr… damn we might even make some money out of this?! Looking forward to constructive comments

Its one of the best manga I have read so far
and its much more amazing and wonderfull than naruto and bleach..
Its so sad that it end so fast just like that..
I hate it so much..
I had higher expectation on this manga after I read the early pages..
I was hoping for him to get a real gold plate T_T

Thank god it was cancelled only a few months ago. I was scared i would see something like it was cancelled 2-3 years ago. Then there would be no hope so at least for another 5-6 months its possible to make a come back. So don’t let it get to u for some more time. We can pray and also start sending threatening letters to SJ or even gather some money for an assassin :P

GRRRRRRRRR. I don’t like how it just suddenly ends. where there is more that can be told. I need a proper ending. IT SHOULD CONTINUE! that is what I vote. however it is up to the artiest and writer so my vote doesn’t really count does it? *goes to a corner and cries*

DAMMIT!!! I LOVED MXO!!! i can’t believe it was canceled! it was so brilliant, with its combination of humor, action and storyline, and should have ran for at least 200 chapters. i mean, there’s a lot of mangas that go stale by chapter 50, but i always felt that mxo only grew better no matter what. i whole-heartedly hope that it gets renewed, ’cause the ending, while being uplifting, felt like only the beginning of a new, bigger, more epic story.

but didn’t they end Gunnm [aka battle angel alita] and revived it 10 years later?
i realise its an entirely different series and theme altogether, but it IS possible for it to be revived after some time.
i mean.
i hope they don’t take 10 years to revive it… [and i DO hope the author doesn't die before its finished O_O;;], but considering there are still 9 levels in the black M0, a wish still pending, and 2 years to go [actually 1 and a half, considering plot continuation that he went "abroad" to study for a year. but then Gunnm went back in time a whole volume before they continued the revived series, so the end might not be permanent. he may never go study in another school for a year, for example o.O], as well as other untied knots in the plot, i find it very unlikely that Mx0 is gone for good.
we’ll only need patience for it to continue, and truly hope the author liked the series enough to fight for its existence.
personally, i loved the series, and i truly hope it gets continued…
[and yes. i did only read the scanlations, so my opinions aren't truly valuable; however, i DO have Mx0 up next in my "to-buy" manga list. hope that credits me even a little =p]
PS: i suggest any scanlation readers out there to buy the original series from any source possible. make friends in japan and make them send them to you =D or buy them online.
i’ll be buying these in japan soon when i go there next year. rally up and support the author/series guys!
