Alsoooooo.

If I was to compare Kanishino and Damekoi, I'd pick damekoi any day.

But that's just me because I'm not into chara moe games.

Oh, I'm sorry I was kinda vague, but what I really meant to say is that it might not be that interesting if it's not your kind of genre!

I actually realised after making the post that the game is pretty similar to Kazoku Keikaku, so if you liked that game, damekoi shouldn't do too badly.

Sorry I came back to this so late. Thanks for the review, I might go back and give it a second try. Seems like it's worth playing regardless of genre preferences, as you say.

Thanks for the review Zepy.

I was hoping to practice my listening comprehension with playing this game, but I guess it doesn't help much if you don't really get the gist of what they're saying.

I had a similar problem with the main character's whining in the Densha Otoko drama, but I did get used to it after a while. Well, maybe I'll give the game another chance.

So yeah basically Damekoi is a game that I'd recommend if you're looking for a kinda sad heartwarming game involving love triangles.

It's basically a game around triangle love situations so there isn't much room to be original about, but the writing had a pretty good tempo to it that made it easy to get into, and pacing of story events came at the right pace so it didn't feel like I was getting bored or getting overwhelmed by the story. The writer did a pretty good job of covering the lack of possible original situations with writing techniques.

Without giving away too much of the storyline, the theme of the whole game revolves around Mitoko a lot. The main character is 29, and we'll imagine she's 15. Basically, it's not socially acceptable for a 29 year old to get into a relationship with a 15 year old, and through all the character routes you see her struggling with her feelings.

The voice of the main character tho! He sounded so annoying at the start but by the time I finished all the characters I felt he did an amazing job. It definitely was one of the more memorable males roles I've seen in these games.

Though if you play the game, I'd recommend getting a walkthrough and play in the order of Kaya -> Himeo -> Asami -> Mitoko. Since this is one of those games where you can spoil the story if you go in the wrong order.

Don't hold too high hopes for the game even though it was considered the best eroge of 2007 though. It's definitely a good game, but I wouldn't call it a "great" game. But barring personal tastes in genre, I think it deserves the title of best eroge of 2007, mainly because 2007 was... 2007.

Also I'm not sure if it's a good game to be playing with low Japanese knowledge, it might be hard to understand what they're doing when all the business stuff gets thrown during the office scenes.

I'll post my impressions in the comments here... tomorrow. I wanted to do that today but it doesn't look like I'll have the time to write a semi-proper post about it.

Sekai de ichiban NG na koi - Haven't played an eroge in ages, so I was rather partial to seeing *the* eroge of 2007. Just got past the 1st chapter, and I can't say I'm liking it much (Partly because I can only understand about 20% of the dialogue, and mostly because the main character has the whiniest voice I've ever heard for a 28 year old. God I hate him).

If you do get the chance at some point I'd love to hear your impressions on Sekai de Ichiban Dame na Koi. It's gotten such rave reviews that I can't help but feeling the brief look I took at it didn't give the game a fair shake, and I'm wondering what the source of its appeal is.
