Finished the devil on G string

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

gonzoooooo.jpgTakes about 15 to 20 hours to finish every route. Everything was pretty average aside from Haru’s route. Ugh, I don’t know. A number of people have been bashing the game already, I don’t think it’s that bad, but it’s not anywhere on the level of Sharin no kuni at least.

There’s still all the weird inconsistencies between earlier routes and Haru’s route that I couldn’t figure out. It almost feels like they changed the plot at the last minute and didn’t have time to fix the earlier parts…

Kumatanchi

ojisan.jpgAshinaga ojisan, best known for having made that Habanero-tan house game many years back, is apparently now developing a game of the same style called Kumatanchi for the DS together with Vanillaware.

Scans from doujin do~raku: 1, 2

Basically you play the role of a zoo keeper who’s looking after this bear called Kumatan and you feed her and train her for shows and stuff. the game will last for two weeks in real world time and will continue even when it’s switched off. The game is slated for release this summer.

Edit: I just remembered that the artist for Habanero-tan is an employee in Vanillaware and he got to work Grim Grimoire and Odin Sphere, I guess that’s where their link is.

Maybe the high sales will make ufotable put extra effort to make chapter 5 even more completely totally awesome!?

Huge lines in Akihabara for Touhou Hisouten

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

sugeee.jpgTouhou Hisouten was released today at the reitaisai and also in Akiba doujin stores on the same day. AkibaOS reports on the huge queues in Akiba where Messe Sanoh had a queue several blocks long, and Toranoana and Melonbooks had to restrict access to their stores due to the sheer number of people.

Possibility of Negima movie or 3rd TV series

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

murida.jpgReports from the Negi no ochakai event today say that Akamatsu has mentioned that there is a possibility of a Negima movie if the preorders for the Negima Ala Alba anime that comes with the LE version of Negima vol. 23 exceeds 50,000, and if it exceeds 100,000 they will consider a 3rd TV series.

To put this in perspective, the only anime DVD that sold more than 100,000 copies in 2007 was Gedo Senki by Ghibli. And 50,000 DVDs sold would be enough to make it into the top 10 best selling anime DVD rankings for 2007.

The number of preorders for the LE version of Negima vol. 22 was 91,500 copies, but that was 840 yen (US$8) while the LE version of vol. 23 is 3,570 yen (US$34) because of the anime DVD.

The counter on the official website for Negima Ala Alba shows the current amount of preorders, which is currently 10,000. And it apparently counts all the preorders from vol. 23, vol. 24, and vol. 25.

Akibablog

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

warainai.jpgThe Akibablog owner is apparently trying to seek compensation for violation of portrait publicity rights to a guy who posted a photo of the Akibablog owner online on 2ch without permission in March. The person who posted the photo has recently received notice from his ISP regarding the case.

So… since the Akibablog owner was already disliked by some as he already has had numerous complaints for taking photos of people and inside stores without permission, people get angry and his photos get dug up and posted 1000 times over and everybody knows how he looks like now.

Not completely related, but the Akibablog owner has apparently also been asked twice by Production I.G in 2007 to stop using the icon of the laughing man from GiTS in his photos but he has not complied.

Also, should trackbacks be turned on? I originally turned it off when I got the site on wordpress because it looked like an unneeded feature and it sticks in between the comments. But I noticed recently that it’s normal for sites to have trackbacks…
