Readership data on Ichijinsha’s magazines
Japanese site Takahiro no kenkyuukan had a write up on the readership data released by publisher Ichijinsha on their site for potential advertisers. So… yeah. Here’s a bunch of data for people who’s interested in knowing what kind of people read Comic ZERO-SUM or Comic REX.

Comic ZERO-SUM
Males: 15%
Females: 85%
Age 10~19: 39%
Age 20~24: 22%
Age 25~29: 14%
Age 30 and above: 25%
ZERO-SUM was Ichijinsha’s first magazine and took a bunch of Squareenix’s main authors from G Fantasy magazine when ZERO-SUM first started up. It currently serializes manga such as Saiyuki RELOAD, LOVELESS, and Hatenkou yuugi, largely stuff that appeals more to a female audience.

Comic REX
Males: 85%
Females: 15%
Age 10~19: 30%
Age 20~24: 24%
Age 25~29: 23%
Age 30 and above : 23%
Pretty new magazine that started running at the end of 2005 and is positioned as a male oriented magazine, currently running manga such as Kannagi, Cynthia the mission, Onigokko, Lolipo unlimited, and Touhou Bougetsushou ~ Silent Sinner in Blue.
I actually thought the magazine would have more female readers than the 15% reflected in the data, though the fact that 70% of the readers are above 20 is pretty much expected.

Comic Yurihime
Males: 30%
Females:70%
Age 10~19: 27%
Age 20~24: 27%
Age 25~29: 23%
Age 30 and above: 23%
Comic Yurihime is a magazine that is basically the reincarnation of Yurishimai magazine which belonged to another company and died off in 2005 released quarterly. As the title of the magazine implies, it’s all about yuri relationships and it ran manga such as Simoun and stuff by Fujieda Miyabi.

Manga 4koma KINGS palette
Males: 90%
Females: 10%
Age 10~19: 15%
Age 20~24: 29%
Age 25~29: 25%
Age 30 and above: 31%
Manga 4koma KINGS palette is basically what is called a moe 4koma magazine and it currently runs 4koma manga such as Chirochan and Touhou Bougetsushou ~ Tsuki no Inaba to chijou no Inaba. I’ve always felt that moe 4koma was targeted towards a more specific audience, and the readership reflects that showing how 85% of the readers are above 20 and 90% are males.
