Higurashi movie receives 10 out of 100 in review

k1.jpgJapanese movie review site Chou eiga hihyou has given the upcoming Higurashi movie the awesome rating of 10 out of 100! The movie will be officially out on the 10th of May, it seems really hopeful now that the movie will be a huge success!

The reviewer says that the original game was attractive because it seemed like a love comedy with cute characters at first and slowly became violent and gruesome, but in a live action movie, such situations have already been done to death and it doesn’t seem to be anything special. And stuff about how you have to play the game to enjoy the movie.

I’d rather they remake and bastardize Deathnote then this. Seriously.

I mean, I can just imagine the Hollywood Deathnote…

both death note and higurashi are awesome but sorry higurashi is definatly beter. i think higurashi insted of a movie make all the episodes english and more on the gory side in the characters screams. i mean the guys good but the japanese guy or whatever is way beter.

giving the movie 10/100 and giving reasons such as “there’s nothing special about the movie”, or that “there are too many movies like this out there already” makes me want to know more about how the reviewer actually rated the show. If the reviewer said that the movie had lousy acting, I’ll believe em; if the reviewer said that the pacing was poor, I’ll believe em, even if everything’s made up.

But when someone gives a movie a poor rating by comparing it with what’s out there, and not judging it by its own merits… it really makes me think less of whoever the reviewer is. Now I’ve not read the review yet, so I’m not going to start cursing the 10/100 reviewer. But from what I’ve seen from the trailers, aside from a little stiff acting from some of the girls, the trailers were suspenseful and I personally thought (from what I’ve seen) the movie adaption would be pretty interesting.
