Million KNights Vermilion
Doujin circle NRF who made BigBangBeat and had a internal conflict and broke into pieces, has announced the doujin 2D fighter Million KNights Vermilion and a trailer is available at their site. They’ve got some really good looking character dot art going on in there.
The character designs are by Sogabe Shuji who did Senko no Ronde.
But what really surprised me was that Tokyo Kids is working on the character animations. Because Tokyo Kids is a professional animation studio that has been around for many years and has worked on anime such as AYAKASHI and Gurren Lagann (though not as the main animators for Gurren)
The game is announced for the PC and is still a doujin game at this point, but it looks as if they’re prepared to push it all the way to the arcades with all these professionals working on it.
Thanks to the Professor from mmcafe for the news

Hope that this game coming on 2009 because the 2D fighting scene is fucking full of titles this year, its like the middle 90s again.

Saw this on insertcredit earlier today and was blown away… It looks awesome. I love fighting games (I love playing them more than I am good at them though…), and everything about this looks good. Especially character design/art. I also enjoyed BBB quite a bit.
Question to the more knowledgable, did Sogabe Shuji also do the character art for Persona 3? Or is the style just really similiar? :0

Sogabe does the Persona 3 manga, the character designer for the Persona 3 game is Soejima Shigenori

THAT IS INCORRECT. THERE ARE NO FUCKING ARCADES LEFT EXCEPT FOR GAYWORKS AND DAVE AND COCKSUCKERS TYPE JOINTS.
MID 90S? FUCK YOU.

Maybe where you live, not here.

Definitely not here either, though most arcades (and arcade-goers) here suck.

Let’s hope it’s not like BBB.
Even with all the gloss, BBB is a failed repository of gameplay that they had to give to another group to patch.
A shame really, because I wanted to like it badly.
Also, considering arcades, consider how many fighters are coming out this year: (AH2, SF4, MBAA, Monster, Blitzkampf, SBK, KOFXII, BlazBlue), they’re certainly having a hey-day over in Japan.
Two (maybe three if you count MBAA because of MBAC) of those games started from doujin PC routes.
Personally, I live somewhat near Chinatown Fair, so I can’t really say it’s dead.

I’m hoping this lives us to the now rapidly growing hype. Even if it’s as fun and tuned as Senko no Ronde, a decent game at best beyond style and such, I’ll be happy.

I’m more wondering when they’re gonna put the game characters into MUGEN lol

Want to see more characters fighting before judging on its gameplay and character designs - just one character fighting her mirror doesn’t do it for me. :/

Southern California is full of arcades and teenage Asian males.
Good times.

It’s still open. So you still have time, but you better come to NYC fast.
I’m going to miss that place.
