TMA on the front lines of adult videos

Monday, June 30th, 2008

dekonaiAV maker TMA has put up their release schedule (NSFW) for September and it reveals that they’re releasing an AV based on seiyuu Hirano Aya and also an Evangelion AV called “EVER RE-TAKE”. The girl acting as Hirano sure looks nothing like the real thing!

Also, EVER RE-TAKE sounds like it’ll be an AV made based on the doujinshi by Kimigabuchi instead of a normal EVA parody.

Man in Akihabara hurts police

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

kichigai.jpgYahoo Japan reports that a man in Akihabara just attacked a police officer with a knife at approximately 1:30 pm today and has been arrested. He was apparently being questioned by the police during one of their random checks.

Update: Sankei news is now reporting that the man was in possession of a small knife and police had confiscated it during the questioning, but the man tried to take it back, and caused the police officer to get minor injuries on his fingers.

The man was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Yahoo Japan just didn’t have all the details yet before posting that quick news bit. End of story.

White Album

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

nandehirano.jpgMoon Phase has the news on White Album and the staff working on it, and they’ve apparently got Hirano Aya to voice Yuki and Mizuki Nana to voice Rina. And the art for the game will continue to be by Kawata Hisashi while the character designs for the anime will be by Yoshinari Kou.

…Yoshinari Kou!?

Also the PS3 version of the game will have the SLG elements taken out and White Album will be a pure AVG game. The songs White Album, Sound of Destiny, and Powder Snow from the PC version will still be used in some way even if they have new songs for the OP and ED.

The story for the anime will be different from the game.

Goodbye Rune

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

youjo.jpgI’m not sure how many people reading this have actually heard of Rune, but they were a middle sized eroge maker which has been around since 1999 when they released Fifth and has been semi-popular among certain groups of people.

A large number of their staff including their CG editors and their scenario writers have been quitting since early May. And most recently the two artists that Rune has always been known for, Nonohara Miki and Akamaru, who have been in the company since the beginning, have revealed on their blogs that they too, have quit.

An ex-staff(?) from Rune had appeared on 2ch last night saying that they had quit because they weren’t receiving their pay, and that most of the staff had gone their separate ways instead going as a team and forming a new brand under a different company. However, their upcoming game 8665^3 was already mostly completed when the staff left the company, so chances are that it’ll somehow still get released.

Nonohara and Akamaru are apparently still working together in their new job, though it’s unknown where they’ve moved to yet.

Comiket circles doing Leaf, Key or Type-moon

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Leaf, Key, and Type-moon has been three of the most popular eroge topics at Comiket since the late 90s and more than a handful of people have probably been wondering about the exact number of circles that actually did doujin stuff from these three.

The National Diet Library in Tokyo has every single edition of the Comiket catalog in its archives and August Dojin Data Base took the opportunity to compile a pretty good list of the number of circles that have been doing Leaf, Key or Type-moon doujins during each Comiket starting from Comiket 56 held in 1999 August.

The big drop in circles during Comiket 67 and 69 was due to the fact that they were held for only two days during the winter Comiket instead of three days like during Comiket 63, 65, 71, and 73. Also Comiket 61, 59, and 57 were 2 days, while all the summer Comikets are 3 days.

The highest total combined number of circles with was 1,578 circles during Comiket 63, and in the last two Comikets the total has been approximately 1,100 circles. Given that Comiket is held for only 6 hours, it means that you’d have to go at a rate of 4.6 circles per minute if you wanted to go through every one of these circles.

Leaf
The highest that Leaf ever reached was 810 circles during Comiket 58, thanks to the combined powers of the totally awesome To Heart TV series, the release of the PSX version of To heart, and the release of Comic Party. The amount of circles doing Leaf stuff had been going down but went up again during the periods following the release of Utawarerumono, Utawarerumono TV series, and ToHeart2.

Key
The majority of the circles doing Key stuff chose to do something based on Kanon. Air as a game had sold more than Kanon when it was released, but in the doujin scene Kanon has always been more popular. The total number of circles that did Kanon stuff over the years was 3,284 circles, while the total number of circles that did Air stuff was 1,167 circles. The number of circles doing Key stuff had been decreasing too, but went up again in December due to the release of Little Busters.

Type-moon
Tsukihime took about a year and a half after its first release before it got its major break in the doujin scene. The highest that Type-moon ever went was 692 circles in Comiket 66, which isn’t as high as Leaf as its peak, but the total number of circles doing Fate/Stay Night was 613 circles during Comiket 70, which is the highest number of circles doing on one game amongst all the games from the other brands.

Etc
As compared to the amount of time taken for Tsukihime to break into the doujin scene, Higurashi took about 3 years before it got its major break in doujin. So if Himawari was to ever have its major break, it probably won’t be soon yet.

Also, I briefly checked the number of Touhou related circles in the last Comiket and there were over 600 circles. It sure explains all those overcrowding problems during the recent Reitaisai.

Lucky Star OVA’s release date delayed to 26th September

kita.jpgHanaharu’s Shoujo Material is finally confirmed for release early July. It was kinda funny how when they originally announced it to be released in May, info had already leaked to some store owners that they should expect it to be delayed.

keshikaran.jpgkiss x sis anime has been announced in bessatsu young magazine. kiss x sis is by the Mahoromatic author and is another one of those manga that lies in the border between eromanga and normal manga. The first chapter of kiss x sis is available online for viewing here.

Editor’s comments say that the first unveiling of the anime will come on a DVD with the LE edition of the 3rd vol of kiss x sis and they’ll have a official site up for the anime around mid July.
