Kannagi Radio and Yamakan

kubidattanoka.jpgKannagi Radio featured Yamamoto Yutaka (director), Kurata Hideyuki (scriptwriter), and Tomatsu Haruka (seiyuu). Yamakan actually briefly talks about what happened to him over at Kyoani last year when he was pulled off being the director of Lucky Star.

He was apparently told that he was fired after being called out one night at 11pm, though he doesn’t reveal the circumstances that led him to get fired. And he tried to fight back but it didn’t work.

I guess that means there isn’t much chance that Yamakan will be helping out with Haruhi new animation like what some fans were hoping. And since Yamakan isn’t going to be around that means chances are that the Haruhi composer Kousaki Satoru won’t be working on the anime either…

    NO D:

    His soundtrack was best ):

  2. Blackadder Says:

Well, let’s see if KyoAni can make Haruhi Season 2 better despite these setbacks…

Now this is just a rumor:

Yamakan had been fired from director of “Viral*Marketing” because he was trying to sell the jokes used for the anime.

KyotoAnimu currently sucks arse, btw. Too much eye-junk-food. Not enough reasons to buy or keep.

Can’t say I even remember any of the music in Haruhi so hopefully they’ll get somebody that can make something more memorable.

@Tyrenol: The problem is that they’ve fallen into a predictable formula more than anything. I’m not saying they have to revolutionalize the industry, but they could at least draw on something other then the whole slapstick comedy with moe girls that appeals to otaku and the colour orange. I mean as much as I came to enjoy Haruhi it feels like they just keep making the same basic show now, but with different names for the characters and slightly different character storylines. Then again when you keep chosing similar source material……

Or perhaps rather than choosing, you mean “being made to choose”.

I am guessing that Kyoani’s problem is that they have been made victims of their success and no longer have a voice.
I would be sad to see that professional spirit, which impressed otaku all over the world with works like Air and Haruhi, to be dampened by the repetitiveness of commercial works… Even if the individuals are talented, what made them special was that they all worked together and provided consistent quality unlike many other shows that include talented people, but only occasionally.

  6. Tyrenol Says:

Kaioshin / person: Actually, that’s the problem.

Anime had primarilly been aimed towards the kids, teens, and otaku. Most people had been ignorant of the idea that there are grown people in society who still enjoy watching anime.

Maybe it’s the hardship of being mature and surrounded by a bunch of of jerks. Maybe creating something that isn’t just another dumb show isn’t worth the obligation anymore. Maybe I’m right and the whole anime industry had been taken over by the otaku who don’t know a thing about story creation or inter-human relationships.

The heads of Funimation came back and said that they did better since Geneon had closed down. Why is that? Maybe it is better for companies to deliver when money’s been given to them. Maybe it’s not a good idea to listen to just the vocal otaku after all.

But hey. I’m not asking anyone to make a boring show. I’m asking people to be a bit more sensitive and take more responsiblity with what they’re creating.

Kousaki Satoru is a rising king in music freelancing(or a job like that), besides the fact that he is Yamamoto’s old mate, I wouldn’t say this rule him out from KyoAni production team.

I find it surprising all of a sudden the industry insiders are outspoken again, you know, people like to cover this kind of embarrassment.

some further info on Raiku’s case.
