Tezuka predicted the North Japan earthquake

kami.jpgNortheastern Japan was hit by a 6.9 earthquake early today at approximately 8:45am (CNN report). A 2ch user has however found out that this earthquake was actually mentioned on page 104 of vol 17 of Tezuka Osamu’s BlackJack with the same time, date, location, and it said it was 7.5 in magnitude.

I guess they didn’t call Tezuka the god of manga for nothing! Also the CNN report had a nice typo in the headline when it first went up.

That’s almost as impressive as when Tezuka accidentally invented furries and emo.

I gotta hit that guy up for some lottery numbers…

Did Tezuka write a manga in which the world gets destroyed? If so, the governments of the world may need to consult that.

Well, not really the same time. Tezuka said “around 8 a.m,” and didn’t say which year. 8:45 a.m. is closer to 9 a.m. Someone noted on 2ch that there’s a huge difference between a 6.9 and 7.5 quake. Since it’s on a log scale, a 7.5 quake has almost 6 times more energy than a 6.9.

Wow. There must be some sort of conspiracy here.
