Manga: Mozuya-san gyakujou suru

Mozuya-san gyakujou suru is a manga by Shinofusa Rokurou currrently running in Afternoon about the life of this girl named Mozuya Koto who is afflicted with the medically accepted disorder known as Dr Josef Tsundere’s Bipolar Personality Disorder, or just “tsundere” for short.

With her golden hair, blue eyes, twin tail, and being rich on top of all that, Mozuya Koto comes equipped with all the basic necessities of being a top class tsundere.

As already mentioned earlier, “tsundere” is a personality disorder. When Mozuya wants to be friends with somebody or when she likes somebody, she will take offensive actions that are completely opposite from what a normal person would actually do in the same situation and it is completely outside of Mozuya’s control.

The premise may make it sound like it’s a complete gag manga, but it’s actually pretty serious most of the time, focusing on Mozuya’s troubles with getting along with people as she keeps turning violent due to her tsundere disorder. But that’s not to say there aren’t any gags, the author does a pretty good job of balancing the two.

It has a great amount of text on each page too, more than the usual manga. But it doesn’t feel overwhelming or anything.

So yeah, great tsundere manga. It’s late on riding the tsundere boom but Shinofusa had told his editor that he wanted to get this serialized as fast as possible before the subject of tsundere gets old a year and a half ago, but was told that his idea was already old and would probably be better to take some time to think on the subject and possibly come up with something unique with the story.
The first vol tankoubon has just recently been released (amazon).

Can…. we just call it a ‘bipolar’ manga and leav out the tsundere ?
Also, is it possible that we can NOT make this a romantic manga, and let dear Mozuya NOT have a boyfriend ?
Yes, I’d like that. From the way its portrayed, tsundere seems to be another name for a real world psychological problem, just like Aspergers and depressions.
Here’s hoping for Yandere Aspergers Personality Disorder.

I hope they don’t confuse schizophrenia with bipolarism.

Seems to be crossing the line from Tsundere to Yandere to me.
Can’t say I would enjoy poking fun at Bipolar Disorder either, having deal with with it in various personal situations myself.
And yeah, I’m with the editor in saying a year and a half ago blond twintail tsundere’s were already saturating the anime/game/manga market.

I agree with Blackadder, lets her not have a boyfriend. Lets her have a girlfriend.

Blackadder:
Speaking as a psych graduate, it’s really best that they make up a disease. Not only is this not like bipolarism, bipolarism isn’t even like what you’re probably imagining (the swings come in bursts of weeks or months, not at the touch of a button, and have nothing to do with how you act towards others; if anything this is a tiny bit closer to boderline personality disorder).
Making up a disease lets the author have more leeway as to what they want to write about, and honestly, I find naming the disease tsudere a hilarious way to poke fun at the conventions and stereotypes of the genre.

Personally, I call for shooting the b**** and putting her out of her misery. But hey. That’s my personal opinion against “gag manga.”
Seriously though: Is psychological help really that far from being obtained in Japan? Or is it just in shows / “gag manga” like Mahoraba?

cube > Maybe youre right. No, you definitely are.
That being said, I personally hope they treat this manga as a semi-serious case. I mean, why not ? A serious introspective look into a made-up psychological disorder. Just like how Asimov wrote that thesis on Thiotimaline. With the gags in it just to ride on the ‘tsundere’ wave.
Personally, I think some tsunderes have it hard.
Rincewind > LOL
I was thinking of no romantic associations whatsoever….. but whatever. Lets leave it up to the author.

Definitely a bizarre manga, but somewhat interesting. Nice to see someone else reading Afternoon; other than the big stuff like MnJ and A!MG it tends to be pretty obscure among English-speaking fans.

This sounds like something that I can get behind. It’s definitely an interesting take on something has felt like it’s started to stagnate after a while.
