Man in Akihabara hurts police

kichigai.jpgYahoo Japan reports that a man in Akihabara just attacked a police officer with a knife at approximately 1:30 pm today and has been arrested. He was apparently being questioned by the police during one of their random checks.

Update: Sankei news is now reporting that the man was in possession of a small knife and police had confiscated it during the questioning, but the man tried to take it back, and caused the police officer to get minor injuries on his fingers.

The man was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Yahoo Japan just didn’t have all the details yet before posting that quick news bit. End of story.

After hearing how they hold people for hours because of a freakin Swiss Army knife…I’m not sure who to support anymore.

I’m sure this won’t help things though.

Apparently the blade was 7.5 cm, which if I remember correctly is longer than the legal limit.

I was there today and was wondering what was up. Police were still there at 3:30 and people were taking pictures of the empty alley.

What’s up with the Japanese and Swiss Army Knives, though? Self-defense? Bike-fixing? Or are people dumber than our dumb people? (The type who’d blast a gas station attendant from India because “he looked like a terrorist.)

Remember colombine and the copycat attacks? If I were in charge of police id tell them to back off and return to procedures prior to first stabbing. I can see how Japan’s alienated youth can turn (marilyn)mansonesque, if you know what I mean. With no belief in god these people have no guidance.

Local news in Toronto had a thing mentioning that a man in the electronics district of Japan “slashed” a police officer. Wonderful.

Yes, they need god’s guidance. Randomly stabbing people is so inefficient. With god’s guidance, they can be more organized and bomb entire subways with deadly nerve gas.
