Info from the new issue of Push!! magazine

NSFW pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

- All they can reveal at this point about the new minigame is that it’s related to how Saya is a spy that’s after the school’s secret treasure and there’s something underground under the school.

- Saya is a spy and moves alone a lot and basically only interacts with the main character. Tennen boke tsundere.

- Text is 1.4 times as much as the original and voice data has increased by a lot, hence the need for 2 DVDs.

- 10 new tracks for the music.

- Some characters have new scenarios, especially Kudo and Haruka.

- All the new heroines have their own endings.

- Kanata’s scenario will come after the end of Haruka’s scenario so her attitude will be very different.

- Little Busters EX has been worked on since September last year.

- Schedule has been really tight, especially Na-Ga who had to work on both the new character and a sub character that became a main character.

- No plans for a console port of the game, because the mini game will be hard to do on the PS2.

- The guy that was originally supposed to write the scenario is really packed right now so Maeda started writing again.

- They’ve got a lot of outside help this time, especially with the mini games.

- The baseball part has also changed, they talk more now and more characters are added*

- There will be ways for people that have already played the original to only play the newly added parts immediately.

- They’ve put in effort on the H scenes, up to three H scenes for some characters.

- H scenes are not written by Maeda but by Shirokiri, Maeda tried his hand with H scenes before in Tomoyo After but it didn’t work out at all.

- Kinniku sensation ending will be powered up

- Tonogawa is already working on Rewrite (current progress 5%)

- Still undecided if Rewrite will be 18+ or all ages, they’ll follow whatever the chairman decides

- Orito Shinji is looking for a disciple

- They haven’t decided what they’ll do for Key’s 10 year anniversary

*They originally said that new characters aren’t going to get involved in the baseball mini game but we’ll pretend they never said that

Queen’s Blade TV anime

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

eroi.jpgThe two latest Queen’s Blade books Allean and Ardra have announced that Queen’s Blade is going to be made into a TV anime apparently. No details on staff or when it’ll go on TV yet. I don’t know how they’re going to do it, they’re going to spill Nanaelle’s holy milk all over the TV screen…!

Toushintoshi 3 announced, White Album anime

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

toshinden.jpgThe Mangaoh listing for the August issue of Dengeki Hime has revealed that 14 years after the release of the previous game, Alicesoft will be making Toushintoshi 3 and a leaked picture from the magazine reveals that the game is geared towards a winter release this year.

Toushintoshi 2, released in 1994, is considered by many long time Alicesoft fans as one of the best games to have been released by the company with its intricate game balance and story. The game is currently distributed free as freeware by Alicesoft together with their other old games here.

anoonnanohouse.jpgMangaoh also leaks info from Dengeki G’s Magazine revealing that a PS3 port and an anime for Leaf’s 1998 game White Album is in the works. Moon Phase and Rakugakidou have both confirmed that this news is true so this seems to be 100% certain…

I don’t know why they’re bringing White Album back, I seem to remember back then that it was pretty badly received and marked the end of Leaf Osaka’s golden age.

Young Magazine editor criticizes recent seiyuu

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

nothirano.jpgFrom vol. 29 of Young Magazine, one of the editors comment that he feels that some recent seiyuu have been becoming arrogant, talking on and on TV about the feelings of the character that they’re voicing and the character’s background, as if the seiyuu is the original author of the story.

He doesn’t name anybody but he says that the person that he saw spoke of the character in such a way that it made him want to say “you didn’t create this character did you?”, and it makes him hope that only the seiyuu that hold the mindset that they’re “given the role” will be successful.

Young Magazine manga that have been animated recently are Kaiji, Minamike, and xxxHolic. And the most recent TV appearance by a seiyuu is Hirano Aya on Top Runner two weeks ago.

Princess Mako net idol gets dug up by news sites

Monday, June 16th, 2008

orz.jpgIt has been at least 4 years since the net idolization of Princess Mako of the Japanese imperial family had started (and died out). But the media has been digging it up recently as Cyzo reports about it out of nowhere and gets picked up by sites such as Yahoo, Excite, Infoseek, J-cast and livedoor.

Cyzo even went to approach the Imperial Household Agency for comment on this for which the Imperial Household Agency replied that they’re not sure how they should be handling this phenomenon as they would warn these people if the imperial family was slandered or insulted, but there wasn’t any signs of such things happening.

I don’t know why they’re digging this up now at this time, they probably had no other news to post about (like me) or ……something. They’ve been linking to the Princess Mako fan video on nico douga causing it to come back from the grave with 300,000 extra hits too.

Man in Sendai found dead buried in his manga

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

satsujinkyouki.jpgThe Miyagi Prefectural Police have found a 37 year old man dead in his apartment in Sendai buried under several hundred manga and magazines. They’re currently investigating the case under suspicion that his death was an accident triggered by the Northeastern Japan earthquake on the 14th.

The man apparently had books stacked up to 2 meters tall on all sides and the police suspect that he was in the middle surrounded by books when the books toppled and crushed him, with the weight of the books pushing against his chest and stomach to cause him to be unable to breathe.

Raiku vs Shogakukan part 3

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

genkou.jpg

Tons of people in the industry have been coming out with their own personal experiences in the manga industry ever since Raiku Makoto announced that lawsuit with Shogakukan.

Many seem to have experience with having the original copies of their manuscripts getting lost by the editorial team, and many also comment on how cheaply Raiku is being paid on a per page basis in contrast to how popular Konjiki no Gash is. (he probably makes a fortune from the tankoubon royalties, but it doesn’t make sense to be paid much less per page than an unpopular author)

Shinjo Mayu (Kaikan Phrase author) talks about her experience working on Shoujo Comic, another magazine that is being run by Shogakukan. She says she worked long hours with little sleep everyday in order to keep up with the pace that is demanded of her by the magazine, and even after staying with the same magazine for 13 years, she was told by the chief editor that her serialization would be cancelled and she would be moved to another magazine when she wanted to change the direction of her manga.

The new magazine that she was asked to move to also wanted her to continue drawing manga that was in the same fashion as before instead of what she wanted to do. So she decided to leave Shogakukan, but when she did, they threatened to make all her books go out of print. (They didn’t in the end)

She also makes a second post where she makes a killer pass saying that she’s leaving the rest to Kumeta.

Shounen Sunday’s official statement is that Raiku is lying

Takato Rui (Cynthia the mission author) kinda supports Shinjo Mayu’s statement in the comments.

Umekawa Kazumi (Gau Gau Wata author) talks about her personal experiences of being mistreated in the manga industry and supports Raiku’s stance.

Yanmura (Shounen Sunday manga assistant) says that a certain author on Shounen Sunday was told to “please draw One Piece” when they were planning a new serialization. That’s not “draw something like One Piece”, it’s “draw One Piece”.

Wakaki Tamiki (Kami no mi zo shiru sekai author) asks readers to not forsake Shounen Sunday (gotta highlight to see the message)

Watanabedenki Inc. (mangaka) says that both sides are not trying to see from the point of view from the other side and the whole incident is childish. But he is surprised at how little Raiku is paid per page.

Gotou Hideki (mangaka) shares his experience where his manuscripts, both monochrome and colour pages, got lost too, except it was before they were even published in a tankoubon.

Harada Takayuki (ex-assistant for Shinsei motemote oukoku author) talks about how his manuscripts were also treated negligently when he was with Shounen Sunday but he wasn’t verbally abused and he did not really experience any trouble when with them. However he has heard of many people that left Sunday because of problems with the editors, and he wishes to show his support for Raiku’s stance against Shogakukan.

Hagiwara Reiji (ALIEN hihouden author) says that he doesn’t get an urge to support Raiku when reading the details of the lawsuit, but he feels that such actions from mangaka protesting against the editors should be welcome.

Ueda Miki (Bakuretsu!! Kungfu musume author) she used to work with Shogakukan too, and she strongly supports Raiku’s stance against the editorial department in Shogakukan as she says that she herself has also experienced very unreasonable treatment which caused her to completely leave the manga industry.

Hanamizawa Qtarou (REC author) is currently serialized with Shogakukan and feels that he’s lucky as he has not been verbally abused or forced to draw manga that he doesn’t want to.

Takeshita Kenjirou (Happy world! author) had a serialization on Shogakukan many years ago and he says that he too has had a similar experience working with editors that aren’t motivated to work or don’t like manga at all, but he has also had good editors that he respected.

There is still a lot more mangaka who are commenting on this thing, but… there are too many.

Guy with swiss army knife surrounded by more than 10 policemen in Akiba for 2 hours

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

naniyatennda.jpgA man in Akihabara found in possession of a swiss army knife was surrounded by more than 10 policemen and questioned for 2 hours today. However it only had had a knife with a blade length of approximately 5 cm while the law restricts the possession of knives with blades longer than 6 cm when in public.

The guy was apparently randomly questioned by the police and asked to let them search his belongings, and when he questioned their right to do so, they started searching through his belongings without question and found a swiss army knife and a pair of pliers.

The reason given by the man for having the swiss army knifeand pliers was because he needed them to fix his bicycle which breaks often. The police wanted to take the man into custody but the man refused so they had more than 10 policemen surrounding him while questioning him for 2 hours.

He was freed after and members of the press immediately surrounded him once the police were gone.

Tezuka predicted the North Japan earthquake

Friday, June 13th, 2008

kami.jpgNortheastern Japan was hit by a 6.9 earthquake early today at approximately 8:45am (CNN report). A 2ch user has however found out that this earthquake was actually mentioned on page 104 of vol 17 of Tezuka Osamu’s BlackJack with the same time, date, location, and it said it was 7.5 in magnitude.

I guess they didn’t call Tezuka the god of manga for nothing! Also the CNN report had a nice typo in the headline when it first went up.

Tales of the Abyss TV series

Friday, June 13th, 2008

great.jpgThe website for anime studio Ingres A has apparently put Tales of the Abyss in the list of anime that it has worked on, and Moon Phase is reporting that it’s going to be a TV series by Sunrise with Kodama Kenji as the director and Hishinuma Yoshihito as character designer.

With some luck it won’t end up like the Tales of Eternia TV series!
