Black Lagoon 3 = me happy

On a vaguely related note, the reason why WALL*E kicked Wanted to the curbside isn't because of content (i.e., masochism). It just that the former had a better story than the latter. WALL*E was endearing and struck you on a primal level. Wanted was interesting, but kind of shallow and predictable. Angelina Jolie does NOT automatically mean the movie is going to be good.

Plus, I hear tell that Wanted didn't live up to its progenitor, the comic. Thus, lower sales. "Fanboys" are hard to please.

Oh, and I love Black Lagoon, and disliked Wanted. It's unfair to generalize things into one category or another via content. You'd be happier if you didn't take everything at face value.

Your opinion has been duly noted, however. It's your right, after all.

Not everybody shares the same opinions, but that's why life is so interesting to watch from the sidelines.

Frankly, I'd prefer any other direction that gets us away from psychoanalyzing one specific person's issues. Things tend to get ugly when web topics focus too much on a single participant, and I probably didn't help matters any. I'll blather on instead about the general topic of standards then, emphasizing again that this is aimed at nobody in particular.

High standards are all well and good, but high standards don't automatically mean good standards. It's unfortunately very common in all kinds of fields to have high standards that are still wrong and/or useless. Religion, manufacturing, education, warfare, etc, all those things can be screwed up by incorrect high standards.

For example, the samurai had very high standards on what was needed to run an effective army (nobility, honor, swordsmanship), but in the end they were wrong (you need lots of commoners, rote drills, and mass-produced rifles). Religious extremists tend to have very high standards for morality, but their societies collapse and wither under the relentless oppression of impossibly strict moral codes. Expensive powerful gadgets that ignore usability end up getting outsold by cheap inferior gadgets that are accessible. Schools that focus on getting high test scores do a worse job compared to schools that just teach the basic three R's.

Standards are like driving a car. Make damn sure it's pointed in the right direction, because the wrong direction means that even the highest speeds will be useless. Even an old low-speed junker going slowly in the right direction is better than a high-speed sportscar that's going quickly in the wrong direction.

/ Or we could just let this thread die. It's already horrendously derailed; what the heck does this have to do with Black Lagoon anyway?
// Erm, or maybe we could talk about Black Lagoon? Uh... Levi's ass sure is hot in those tight shorts...uh. You know, I don't even particularly like Black Lagoon in the first place...
/// Yeah. TL, DR. I'll just shut up now.

So Tyrenol, what DO you mean with "Alright, fine. Nevermind, then. I’ll just let you sheeple have your fun by continuing to soullessly belt out “me too” to stuff."?

I don't know what direction you take with this.
