I was planning to write something about how Shounen Jump actually works when I read all the comments about how Jump manga gets cut based on sales, but it seems that Obata’s new serialization on Jump is going to talk about these things so I don’t have to write anything now! …That Takagi guy feels a lot like he’s from Comic Party.
Nice English report on the Rumiko Takahashi exhibition
Thanks to Lily for sending this in
NHK news reports that Japanese publishers have been experiencing great success in getting popular manga artists such as Araki Hirohiko and Obata Takeshi to do cover art for old classic Japanese literature works as in a little more than a month they’ve sold up to 10 times as much as they used to in a year.

Oh, so it was that Obata. I thought he was talking about a series of articles about Jump by some other guy named Obata. In this case, though, I’d rather read Zepy’s take on the topic… (after all, a manga will always be more or less fictional and exaggerated.)

Just realized Obata was part of the literature art.
He’s been busy o_o

Bakuman already seemingly went through the life story of
Gamou HiroshiOoba Tsugumi though, it shouldn’t be too bad in showing how Jump works, I think. Though I have trouble imagining how they’d do the manga if it goes on track for a long term serialization.>Ialda
He did the illustration for Izu no odoriko, you can see it here
