Shugochara animation stuff

sakugaShugochara will be having a complete change of staff after the 51st episode and scenario writer Shimada Michiru has written on her blog in response to comments from fans that thought the anime was running on a high budget because of the great animation.

She says that the budget for the anime wasn’t any higher than your normal anime TV series, but the difference was that while the norm was to have the scenario done 3 to 4 months before the actual airing date for each episode, they always had the scenario done 6 months before instead.

This gave the animators time to work on the animation, and the results were achieved through the hard work and determination from the animators despite the budget being no higher than the average.

Episode 43 in particular had 8000 key frames, which was on the same level as a movie production (more than double of that of a normal TV episode), and it was all due to the unrequited passion from the staff

However, writing the scenario 6 months earlier also meant that they were 6 months slower than the manga, and it also caused some problems when their episode that was supposed to be for christmas got pushed into the new year and they had to change parts of it.

I guess it might be possible to infer that some anime that were supposed to have a good budget can have seemingly bad animation because the scenario wasn’t done early and the animators didn’t have enough time. Also, speaking of animation, the battle scene by animator Yamashita Shingo in Birdy 9 was awesome.
