Manga: Koe de oshigoto!
Koe de oshigoto is a manga by Konno Azure running in Comic Gum about a 16 year old girl who was asked to become an eroge seiyuu.
Aoyagi Kanna has just turned 16 and she was asked on her birthday by her 28 year old elder sister to start working at their eroge company as a seiyuu.
The reason for this is because there aren’t many female voice actresses that are willing to do eroge voices, and the majority of these voice actresses reside in Tokyo. Their company is located quite a distance from Tokyo so getting a voice actress over to do the voices will cost a lot in transportation fees.
There’s no problem with getting her to do eroge voices because they won’t show how she looks like or give her real name, and there is no law against getting a 16 year old girl to say dirty stuff. Probably.
So she gets asked to say the names of both male and female sexual organs as a start to get used to it before starting the actual job.
She says.
But that’s just the beginning. The text and imagery get a more dirty as the story progresses, but it somehow manages to stay as an all-ages manga just because they censor parts of the words and completely censor the important body parts!?

I was thinking to myself “Why does this guy’s art look so familiar…?” when I suddenly remembered that he did Puberty Crazies.
I wonder if she’ll be required to voice scenes featuring up the pooper? There was quite a bit of it in Puberty Crazies.

This is right up my alley. I want to check this out but I buy enough manga/magazines as it is. :(
I’m not really surprised at the story premise, though. Don’t most eroge seiyuu start young? And being a voice actor means exploring all facets of humanity, including erotic, so none of this “innocent person” stuff. However, I suppose the juxtaposition of not wanting to be a (eroge) seiyuu, being stereotypically embarrassed, and actually voicing the work are what make this manga interesting? If the main character ever becomes a rough-and-ready veteran, the author should introduce another sibling or relative just at that age and start the training all over again.
The eroge industry is not the end of the world. She could always break out into the mainstream like Chiaki Takahashi, “Hitomi”, or Yuuko Gotou.

So it’s like REC, except that the main chara goes to the “dark side” for easy money.
Eroge voice acting is interesting subject, what with there being a sizable caste of voice actresses who don’t seem to do anything else. There’s someone like Kazane who has done 250+ roles in six years despite being only 26 years old.
Amusingly enough the TV anime Koihime Musou has put most of these big names on TV for the first time.
Considering how much into it they tend to sounds sometimes it would be really interesting to see what goes on during an average recording session, including the people’s expressions.
It would also be interesting to witness an average game’s recording from the beginning to the end considering one game has as much as dialogue as a TV series. How many sessions does it take to finish one game?

It’s a well accepted thing, hell, otome game company ’sugar beans’ went as far as doing introductions on two guys who were involved in Ijiwaru My Master, Takuma Terashima and Kenji Hamada.
That does not apply to females, as there’s basically

who at least within my mind define the sound of the industry. Each have meager TV anime cast listings, but average of 100+ game roles.
Hitomi Nabatame, Shizuka Itou and Yuuko Gotou are the ones who’ve managed to make a name outside the scene, mostly because of their latent idol qualities.
Especially now in the era of widespread internet, the personnel portion of eroge community is still so incredibly inward and secretive. It would be interesting to learn how the insiders work.
