Nishimata Aoi rice bags sell too much
Yahoo Japan reports that the rice bags that were designed with an illustration from artist Nishimata Aoi have been selling incredibly well, 7 times of what they did last year in fact, and they had to stop taking orders as they were unable to keep up with the demand.
They usually receive about 120 orders in a month in previous years, and ship a total of approximately 1 tonne of rice, but this time they have received 1000 orders over 6 days, totalling over 7 tonnes of rice.
They hope to be able to reopen orders again on the 8th.

Now we need ones made by Suzuhira Hiro. Then the orders will be really overwhelming.

The sad thing is that around half of those rice bags are gonna end up in a display shelf somewhere, or perhaps in a dark closet along with all those sealed, unopened Figma boxes.
Poor rice grains, unable to serve their purpose in life.

Those are pretty rice bags.
I’m more concerned about the rice though.

Hug rice pillows.
No seriously I eat rice and I would definitely open this bag if I (could) buy it, then fasten the bag to some wall in my room. How to open this bag, though?
You should look at the Yahoo Japan news link. That’s a lot of pink for a plastic rice bag.

But! If you open the bag, then the value automatically goes down! Best just stow it away in a dark cabinet along with those three unopened boxes of Hatsune Miku nendroids that everyone thinks will become rare in a few months. >_<

They should’ve just sold the empty ricebags individually at like half the price or soemthing. That way no rice gets wasted and they still profit off the frothing otakus.

I’m sure that most of those collectors would eat the rice that comes in the bag… I mean, if they’re looking for resale value, shipping a heavy bag of rice will be a high price to pay.
