Strike Witches vol. 1 broke the 10,000 DVD mark apparently. The last time that a Gonzo TV anime ever sold more than 10,000 DVDs was… Vandread season 1. It’s amazing how popular this anime became.
I guess season 2 is probable now. Gonzo needs the money.

Let’s all consider the competition, shall we?
Viral*Marketing. Code $unrise. Minmei Frontier.
And Pantsu Witches had 1-up their past show; the “closet-feminist hate-machine” known as Vandread. W2G, GONZO.
Seriously, though. When will the ungrateful otaku realize that the mainstream anima fan “want what they’re having” but without the “pro-otaku crap” added to it?

@ Tyrenol: NOYFB is right here, nearly all anime produced nowadays is either aimed at japanese children/tweens or japanese otaku.
That you fail to realize that shows your ignorance regarding reality.

Fling all the insults you want. I’m not going anywhere.
A lot of you otaku are the main reason why you’re getting such a bad reputation despite “wearing your otaku tag proudly.”
Enjoy that happy fantasy world of yours. And be sure to empty your garbage can on the way out. Please.

The link gives “このスレッドは過去ログ倉庫に格納されています”. Is there a better URL to the source?
October 10th, 2008 at 7:59 am
A direct source would be here: http://ranking.oricon.co.jp/
but you actually need to pay 999 yen per month to be able to see the actual sales numbers, otherwise you’d only be able to see the rankings without the actual sales.

You and your animated chests…
@ Tyrenol: No problem with some standards, yo.
I hate the sexualization and lolification too, like the plague.
I hate seeing skin-clad women and girls walking around in anime.
The loli factor & the pantsu factor made me avoid Strike Witches.
Also other series are afflicted with the loli and ecchi plague, like Kanokon, Koihime Musou and Sekirei among others.
But there are more decent shows too, like Natsume Yuujincho, World Destruction, Macross Frontier, Telepathy Shoujo Ran and Mission E among others.
I reminded you of the reason why most anime are made, japanese children/tweens and/or japanese otaku.

Well, hopefully this is enough proof that streaming episodes on the internet doesn’t hurt DVD sales!
October 10th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Wrong, anime are for everyone, also for asdult too called seinen and such. Not only for otaku or kids, but for every age.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Haha, Tyrenol is complete failure shitbag as usual.

Side note to those numbers: Blu-ray sales are not currently shown in Oricon rankings at all, so the total disc sales for shows with BD versions–in this case, Macross F and Code Geass–may be significantly higher than shown. (We know for a fact the first volume of Macross F sold more BDs than DVDs.)
We now return you to your regularly scheduled otaku market flamefest.
