Maikaze’s Touhou anime project to release finally
Doujin circle Maikaze is going to release the first episode from their Touhou anime project this coming comic market, more than a year and a half since they first announced it. The first episode will be called Musoukakyou and they will be releasing a special limited edition box set with OST, art book, and postcard set.
The cast has been announced too.

As a bonus, guys that get it at Comic Market will also get a copied version of the script that was used for the voice recording, with signatures from the entire cast (copied).

Story: Sankaku Complex posted the Night of Nights track (Guitar ver.) from the Hanataba album which I enjoyed so I searched for torrents. The only one I found was 177 gigs and it supposedly has all the Touhou albums in there. I found the number of albums staggering seeing as how I’ve never really heard about the series. Plus, I found the timing of this post interesting (i.e. posted right as I finished downloading the album) so I wanted to comment. Didn’t realize I was preaching to the choir.
You are correct in that I have no real knowledge of this series aside from the few snippets of information I read here and there. And no, I was not aware that all those albums were composed by another doujin group and that they’re totally unrelated to the doujin group who’s doing the anime. I didn’t know ZUN had no part in it either.
I’ll admit I skimmed this post. But the key idea in this post is that there will be a Touhou anime series which was really all I cared to know, not which seiyuu will do which role or which (doujin) group is producing it. With the likelihood of my watching this anime being near 0%, even my interest in the key info is passable at best.
I’ve been hanging around this blog for long enough to know that you’re a big fan of this series, but you’ll have to excuse me and those who just don’t care as much. My comment wasn’t meant to flame/intimidate; I just wanted to say “THERE ARE A SHITLOAD OF TOUHOU ALBUMS!!! IN FACT THERE ARE SO MANY I WONDER IF THEY’LL RECYCLE THEM FOR THE ANIME???”

Hell, with *all* the damn characters being turned into GKs these days I was under the impression for the longest time that Touhou was a fighting game or something.

I enjoy trance/techno music and have recently found it to work well as bgm for studying (Can’t stand the dead silence but also don’t want to study in the common area and be forced to listen to the group next to me talk about their childhood crushes on their cousins), but man I can’t even distinguish the differences anymore between the few albums that I’ve downloaded (The 5 remix albums alone have like 3-5 common tracks). The reason I stopped using MSN was because of time concerns. I was wasting too much time on there and most of it was unnecessary small talk. Plus you sort of have an expectation of people when it comes to a timely response on instant messengers (Like when you say hi to them-when they’re online-you expect them to say hi back, you know, within 30 mins). Got tired of imposing that on people so I switched to forums/comments. It’s kind of like using letter mail again; the time spent waiting in between replies helps build anticipation. Or something.
Anyways it’s different/better than waiting for a reply on MSN.

I don’t know how to use IRC. There, I said it. I tried to learn once back in ‘96, but I couldn’t figure it out. mirc left a bad taste as well.
I know there are superior faqs now teaching people how to use IRC, but I just don’t care enough to learn anymore (That or you can take it as I’m not smart enough to understand how to use it).
Back then there was actually an incentive for me to learn how to use irc since it was one of the few channels of file distribution for manga and anime. Not anymore though.

I just watched the preview for this on Sankaku and here are my thoughts:
- The character art is atrocious in the op
- The characters aren’t really animated; they just sort of float across the screen in the op
- The background art looks fantastic by comparison
- The op song “soko ni aru mono” by tokine is great
Final thoughts:
They probably hired an all-star seiyuu cast to make up for the lousy character art.

I still prefer IRC for file transfer in many cases. lurk, nipponsei, and many subbers/scanners release by irc. Torrents are also good, but not 100% reliable.

I’m not a fan of Touhou as most can infer from reading, so I didn’t care much for these two garage kits at first; but I’ve come to appreciate them a lot more after watching the anime.

As I have heard, the Maikaze Touhou Anime project was canceled due to request from ZUN. Read deeper, I won’t act like I know the whole story.
