428 the animation officially titled CANAAN

nasubi daseThe 428 anime has been officially called CANAAN. This post is an excuse to say again that 428 was great, Type-moon’s bonus scenario in the game felt really out of place however. Also the game only sold 34,000 on the first week, Famitsu’s scores really don’t mean anything to their readers anymore.

and has never really meant anything in the first place

Or people just get it from unmoderated sources first…

BTW, what is the story about already?

  3. Leefe Says:

    Why Canaan lol

It’s about a kidnapping and… Shibuya I guess. I’m not sure if there’s anything else that can be said without giving the story away.

    >Why Canaan lol

Yeah, I’m not any excited about this at all even though I liked the main scenario in 428.

Completely out of place, I know, but…

zepy: any comment on the article on doujin done by world-famous otakologist and goku cosplayer Patrick Galbraith http://www.otaku2.com/articleView.php?item=243 here? some of the numbers seem off to me (aside from the monthly income figure, I assume thats just an issue with forgetting a zero). namely:

    1) 8000 people living off of doujinshi (too high??)
    2) 2500 doujinshi published in 2003 (too low??)
    3) average circulation of 13,500 (!??!?!?!)
    4) 14.85 billion yen of doujin sold at Tora in one year (this appears to be the number on their yearly gross for all sales in 2006)

    English language anime blogs :(

    1) His definition of living off doujinshi is 12,000 yen per month though, it sounds about right since 30% of circles at Comic Market are able to sell more than 300 books and only 5% can sell over 1000 books (info from last Comic Market Catalog)

I’m not sure about living off 12,000 yen per month and still being able to afford to produce stuff and attend doujin events though. Even 32,000 yen is pretty small to be surviving on.

    2) 2500 total in a year is impossible when there are 35,000 circles at Comic Market, but if it’s the number that are accepted for consignment in Toranoana it looks like a reasonable number. (not counting the used books sections)

    3) …. I have no idea of what it might be referring to.

    4) Yeah, that appears to be Toranoana’s yearly gross, the writer might have mistaken Toranoana for a chain that deals only in doujinshi.
