Anime stuff for 2009
Thursday, January 29th, 2009From G’s Magazine March issue’s short interviews with various makers. Focus leans towards bishoujo stuff.
Geneon
Yoku wakaru gendai mahou (summer)
That title that everybody loves will get a new sequel this autumn
Like in 2008, they’ll continue to make anime that are based off existing stories (as in animating light novels and manga, not existing sequels)
Pony Canyon
34 new titles after summer
Star Child
Two anime that are based off manga in Autumn
One is an existing popular series, other will is a moe themed work that is being animated for the first time
Media Factory
3 game related anime that have lots of bishoujo
King Records
Please wait a little longer for info about Nanoha
Frontier Works
In planning stages for anime of a PC game that was a big hit
Avex
3 anime that have cute heroines
Gonzo
This year is mainly about Saki, but they have other stuff in planning
Aniplex
Bakemonogatari in July
Katanagatari in 2010
One anime will get a game
There might be anime getting a 4th or 5th season…?

Star Child sounds a lot like they’re making negima season 3, and Akamatsu has been hinting again in his diary. Actual details will be announced at the negima event on the 11th of Feb probably.
Also a big announcement is coming soon for Ore no imouto.
Shimamoto Kazuhiko wins Gainax cosplay award
Monday, January 26th, 2009
Superstar mangaka Shimamoto Kazuhiko was present at Gainax’s year end party where it was a requirement to turn up in some form of cosplay, and he won the best cosplay award when he turned up dressed as Yabuki Joe who had burnt out and turned all white.
The award was given based on votes by participants, and Shimamoto won a blu-ray recorder, a PSP, and Monster Hunter.
In a surprising coincidence, he was at Comic Market the next day and received the blu-ray boxset of Ashita no joe 2 from a fan, and it contains the scene which he cosplayed from.
This is news because it’s Shimamoto and he’s still awesome.

Not anything as bad as the yamagiwa fire from many years ago but yeah.
Omo on doujinshi + related nonsense
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009
Omo made a nice post about what doujinshi is.
It has (nearly) just about everything I can think of regarding doujin, and it’ll probably be really useful for guys who are new to doujin, since there are probably a lot of guys who have only just learnt about doujin due to stuff like Touhou or Higurashi.
Also not directly related to Omo’s post but there appear to be many questions around why ZUN wants to limit touhou doujin works from commericial distribution.
Scenario of a Touhou doujin anime being commercialized:
1) ZUN rejects offers from anime studios to make official Touhou anime
2) Doujin anime gets made and sold through commercial distribution
3) Studios go crazy and start dancing naked while shouting Sanae-san
4) Totally awesome ninjas get hired by studios to kill ZUN
5) Studios make their own “doujin” anime for commercial distribution
In all cases derivative doujin works are allowed because they are fan works, but if they enter full commercial distribution then they can’t really be treated as doujin anymore.
This is the same for working on anything that’s a derivative work based on someone else’s work.

Mahou tsukai no bako
- New site for cellphones
- Based around the Ahnenerbe cafe
- Has nothing to do with Mahou tsukai no yoru
- Official opening in April 2009, but will have a pre-open soon
- Will have latest Type-moon news and info on goods
Mahou tsukai no yoru
- They’re aiming for a September or October release
- Was originally planning to release in 2009 Spring but had some large changes and had to delay release by half a year
- Will be a combination of both old and new Nasu Kinoko’s style
- Is only the first of three parts
- No plans on if next two parts will even be made, because they have never been written yet
- Hopes to work on Mahou tsukai no yoru chapter 2 when Tsukihime remake is completed
- Nasu will work on finishing DDD once Mahoyo is released in autumn
- Nasu has also received jobs from other companies to work on which cannot be revealed yet
Girls’ Work
- They put in extra effort into the backgrounds so players will hopefully get the feeling that they’d like to live in a town like that
- Story takes place in Misakichou, which is where Tsukihime took place
Fate/Unlimited Codes
- The full body illustrations in the VS screen and the art in the opening and ending are actually by the Capcom artist Higurashi Ryuuji
- Meaning the art here and here are by Higurashi
- The art in posters, game cover, character select half body illustrations, and face illustrations for talk scenes are by TYPE-MOON

It’d be perfect if Mahou tsukai no yoru chapter 2 is directly connected to Aoko’s meeting with Shiki in Tsukihime, and then chapter 3 is about the dark six. Then again it’ll be a very long wait for chapter 2, that is if it will even be written at all.
Also, Higurashi Ryuuji is too good at mimicking Takeuchi’s style.

Sunshine Creation application data list leaked
Friday, January 16th, 2009
Data lists containing personal particulars of circle applicants to Sunshine Creation from SC17 to SC33 have just been leaked via kintama. They contain personal info such as real name, address, and telephone numbers of circle applicants between 2002 to 2006.
Somebody who got it estimated that particulars for approximately 20,000 people were leaked.
Sunshine Creation has reacted fairly quickly and already have an official apology up on their website and are investigating the matter.
In related news Ikegami Akane’s particulars was quickly posted and subsequently linked to on google maps.
The lists also contain number of books that each circle was bringing in for each event.
