2ch ownership transferred to Packet Monster Inc.

2ch

2ch founder Hiroyuki just posted saying that he has completed transferring the ownership of 2ch to some company called Packet Monster Inc, and the FAQ on 2ch reflects that. No other information is given about the transfer.

A WHOIS on 2ch.net has revealed that Packet Monsters Inc is a Singapore based company.

I’m not sure if any company can dodge(ignore?) lawsuits like Hiroyuki, especially in a country like Singapore.

The guys on news+ who are veterans in conspiracy theories and invisible enemies have already come up with the theory that Packet Monsters Inc doesn’t exist and Hiroyuki is just using it as a Tax Haven to avoid taxes.

Either way BBSpink administrator Jim still says that most of 2ch is still on his servers and all are normal.

Perhaps Packet Monsters Inc is a secret branch of the SPH. *wears tin foil hat*

You know zepy I can run a check on that to verify if the company exists in Singapore and if take photos of the actual location since I live in Singapore anyways.

I hope Brandon doesn’t kill me. I probably should add this to Insert Credit as well.

Believe it or not back from checking the place out. Physically there’s no company located at that address. To be double sure I went down the whole street to check. So what I can confirm here is there is no company by the name Packet Monsters Inc located physically at that address.

    That was fast!

    Was it a residential area?

  6. kilvear Says:

No that area is actually my country’s Central Business District. Alot of of major Financial institutions, Offices and Banks are located there.

I will upload the photos I took when I get home.

    Whoa, serious?

Posting before zepy’s blog becomes the next big thing in japan.

Kilvear, there’s no street number on the WHOIS info is there? I just saw a street name. It seems to be a pretty short street though.

Just for fun, google satellite view @ http://tinyurl.com/8rmwf8

I’ve not heard of the company, but Packet Monster Inc. Pte. Ltd. (full name) is indeed a registered business entity (see https://www.psi.gov.sg/NASApp/tmf/TMFServlet?app=MYBIZFILE-SHOP-CART&gotoPage=CompanyProdcutPage&lnkCoNo=200819873K&lnkCoName=PACKET%20MONSTER%20INC.%20PTE.%20LTD.&lnkCoStName=TELOK%20AYER%20STREET&lnkStatus=Live&lnkType=Company&page=RCBBIZCONAMELSTNEW&navTransList=Y&index=1&S=9733aa4412a255e72d0d92d9439c&D=&prn_userid=MYBIZFILE-DIR-ENTITY&Param_Fromtype=RegisteredEntity).

    @df
If I’m not wrong, that place has quite a number of office spaces to rent, and since this company is most probably a new one, it is possible that they may not have put up a nameplate on their door yet.

Well, anyone who has some money to spare can buy the more info on Packet Monster from the website given, but I guess there goes the conspiracy theory.

    Then check

“A spot of searching reveals the lady listed in the contact details to be the CEO of a Singaporean company called Rikvin, specialising in Singapore-based offshore company formations.”

    There you have it.

A Singaporean company hosting something full of controversy fodder like 2chan? That Hiroyuki dude must be off his noggins. Has he even seen what kind of governing bodies we have over here?
