Satte City to reproduce Konata’s home

maniaLucky Star author Yoshimizu Kagami has moved out of Satte City in May last year, and the Satte City commerce and industry association has taken his old home with permission and are now recreating Konata’s home with help from fans, with plans to open it to the public come Spring 2009.

In the three story house, they plan to turn what used to be Yoshimizu’s room on the first floor into Konata’s room, and also make Yutaka’s room and also a gallery featuring Yoshimizu’s original illustrations and stuff such as handwritten memos. They will have Konata’s father’s room and the living room on the 2nd floor, and will try to reproduce all the furniture that were featured in Lucky Star.

They only have the house on a half year lease which started from December, but will consider extending the contract if it is well received.

Wow, looks like more and more city prefectures are realizing the lucrative business of luring fans to famous anime-inspired locales in order to rejuvenate the local economy.

I doubt Kagami’s house is as scenic as Washinomiya’s surrounding landscape, so I’m curious to see how well this place will be received.

Funny, my friends I were talking about doing something this just a few months ago. Otaku are a great cash cow, and as long as they remain that way, ppl will cater to them.
