Somehow, this story turned up on Digg. That’s not the sort of community where fans of Japanese bishoujo games post. My view of Digg tends to agree with Encyclopedia Dramatica’s view of it…

That said, there’s a lot of divides in fandom. There’s a tiny community of fans of untranslated ren’ai games, hidden somewhere among anime/manga fans and eccentric gamers. I’ve always got the impression that if you’re a mainstream animanga fan or a mainstream gamer, then you might be ignorant of bishoujo/otome/BL/GL games, especially untranslated ones.

Ef -the first tale- did kinda suck - the story wasn’t very interesting, and on the whole it disappointed the hell out of me.

Ef -the latter tale-, on the other hand, absolutely rocked. The stories were, in general, far better. It’s superior to both anime series’ (you should watch about judging games based on their adaptations - I mean, Tsuyokiss and Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo are both fantastic games with anime adaptations but fhdjkfhdkljs).

Anyway, the most surprising thing was seeing Concerto Note at #4 - I utterly loved the game, but since nobody ever seemed to be talking about it, I expected it to be doomed to obscurity like other fantastic titles (e.g. StarTRain, Aster)

I guess you’re talking about moshimo ashita ga hare naraba, that game’s prices was still normal for a while after it was released, but increased significantly once they stopped production for the game in april 2007. There is probably demand being created constantly from people who have only heard about it now or are new fans to their games.

I’m not sure exactly about Sakura Strasse’s situation, they probably produced too many copies of the game so the price in the used stores are dropping for now.

The illustrator named Kusu-Kusu is responsible for the visuals. One thing I don’t understand is why Clear Rave’s other game Ashita no… something is currently 17000 yen used, while Sakura Strasse is only 2980 used at Sofmap. What is the deal? Zepy please clue me in.

Also I’m kinda disappointed that Tanuki Soft’s Mei-Shimai … oh it’s 62 with 8 votes. Illustrator Miki Nonohara can do no wrong, except that this one is too fetish.

Oh wow, I’m also surprised (but very pleased!) to see Sumaga up there. It’s too bad they didn’t stick with the original plan for G-Senjou; thanks for sharing that scan.
