Ero manga info

Takomemo collected some bits of info released in some of the ero manga magazines. Not comprehensive or anything.
From Buster Comic
- A really popular ero gekiga artist in the past doesn’t get any work now and appears to have a lot of free time.
- Eromanga involving bestiality
Most eromanga authors do not like drawing this genre apparently.
- Issuisha’s Izumi Comic
It is apparently forbidden to have anal stuff on the back cover.
- They get less questionnaire responses than illustration submissions
- The higher the competition for illustration submissions on a magazine, the higher the chance for the magazine to use crap authors for the contents
- Questionnaires are important
It’s important data to decide a eromangaka’s next work, and if an author is not popular they will stop getting him to do work for their magazine.
- Why TI net’s magazines are cheaper than others
They don’t have anybody at the top taking all the money in the company. It’s a workplace where the chairman and the normal employees stand on the same ground.
- TI net’s Buster Comic magazine
Basically made up of authors whose tankoubon can sell relatively well.
- How supplement magazines can become independent
Sales are an important factor. Then if it can get its own magazine code from the distributors, it will be independent finally.
- Ero manga covers
Some authors give complaints such as the colours on the skin are too saturated during the first drafts. In worse cases there are authors that try to interfere with the design of the cover before the design is even made.
From Comic LO
- The company that handles editing and production for Akane Shinsha is “Comic House”
They’re pretty big
The 2nd editorial department is in charge of Comic RiN
The 3rd editorial department is in charge of Comic LO
- The editorial department for Comic LO
They sometimes recruit editing assistants
Everybody in the editorial department started as part-time crew before becoming full time staff, including the current Editor-in-chief.
- Requirement to join the Comic LO editorial team
Got to like lolicon manga
- Request from the Comic LO editorial staff
Uploading the entire magazine or an entire chapter is not allowed.
But scanning stuff for manga reviews is ok as long as you’re not uploading everything.
- Comic LO’s catch phrase
ONE AND ONLY COMIC MAGAZINE
- Comic House runs a bookstore called Dungeon book
In New Akihabara Centre.
From Comic ino.
- Hit publishing’s Comic ino.
Catch phrase is “The resistance against adults”
Its predecessor was Shoujo Tengoku
The 2009 February issue will be its last issue

Hmm nice to know that there will just be another Comic INO, still sad to see the magazines end up like that :/.
Like Comic Megaplus, granted it’s successor was 0EX, but none of my favorite artists continued to draw in it ><.

if it’s anything like how they take unsolicited manuscripts, you bust into their place and yell “IS THIS THE PLACE WHERE I CAN EDIT LOLI EROMANGA TO MY HEART’S CONTENT?”

I’d guess they have less trouble finding candidates for editorial duties than artists able and willing to contribute actual pages on a regular basis. Their calls for submissions sound a bit desperate at times. Still, I wonder what the background and careers of the LO editorial staff look like, though. They’re not usually prone to disclose personal details.
As for questionnaires, I wonder if magazines are interested in the input of us overseas readers as well–despite the lag of international mail. It might at least help send the message that we’re not all filthy freeloaders.

What I wanna know is if having those telephone cards for mail order help out the magazine or what not. I am now an expert at buying fixed-priced mail order checks (定額小為替) and other postal-based money sending. :-) Also I was totally bummed when the postal system went private and my fixed-price mail order check went from 10 yen to 100 yen per denomination. (E.g a 800 yen telephone card would cost 800 + (100 + 100) for two 400 yen money orders) :-/
Also, you didn’t translate one of the Buster Comic items: (図書印刷。親会社は凸版。色物の初稿が何でもズサンと評判。) ”Book printing: The parent company uses letterpress method. Colored first drafts are criticized as NANDEMO ZUSAN” I don’t understand what ZUSAN is, and the only thing that could be related is some Gundam definition (http://dorokoi.com/wikip/ziten357.php/ズサ?section=12), but I still don’t understand because I don’t know Gundam. Could you shed some light on this?

I wonder if LO would accept submissions from a dirty foreigner? I mean the art in some of those stories is pretty bad already www

MoY art in my LO? Now that would be awesome! :p

If you can send it, I’m pretty sure they’ll take your input into account. For most magazines the questionnaires are the most important piece of data that decide how the magazine will be like, and some of these magazines can get between 10 to 15 submissions in a month sometimes, so every single one counts.
>Piyo
It’s not related to gundam, Tosho Printing is a printing firm owned by Toppan, and the first drafts of pornographic material is usually criticized as being shoddy. It didn’t clearly say if it’s Tosho or Buster Comic that is doing the criticizing and I didn’t want to make any assumptions so I left it out.

If one is serious about it, then *try it.*
Comic House 3rd Editorial Team
Harashima-Honten-Bldg. 2nd Fl.
3-6-5 Misaki-Cho
Chiyoda-Ku, Tokyo 101-0061
Japan
Mac format CD, with thumbnails on paper hardcopy. Text already translated into Japanese is probably a plus.
They’re the last adult manga publisher I would suspect of being anti-foreigner.

Thanks for the info, man. I may actually seriously try it in a few years, when my artwork improves.

I’ve considered submitting to Comic LO myself many times over.
It’d be a dream come true.
Wildarmsheero’s art is definately too shitty, though.

“The 2009 Febuary issue [of Comic Ino] will be its last issue”
This makes me sad. A lot of my favorite artists published regularly in this magazine.
