2nd season was called “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu new animation”

March Newtype does not explicitly state that the “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu” anime starting in April is a repeat telecast

The preview for April Newtype lists “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu” as a new anime for spring, listed above Hagaren, Shangri-la, and K-on

Article which says Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu is coming on April doesn’t say exactly if it’s season 1

Article which is about the repeat telecast lists the staff for season 2 instead of season 1 and the art used is from disappearance

Wouldn’t be the first time that Newtype is incredibly ambiguous just to increase sales of the magazine. Also wouldn’t be the first time that Haruhi fans are reading too much into it, but with the above points the following possibilities are conceived:

1) Repeat of season 1 in April, season 2 continues immediately after

2) Repeat season 1 but with new episodes shuffled in

3) Season 2 starts in April

4) Repeat telecast of season 1 and no season 2

If you pick the right possibility and place your bets now, you can claim to have been able to see what Kadokawa was trying to do all along and become a superstar and all will worship you. If you pick the wrong one, all will ridicule and you will tear up all the haruhi novels and send them to the wife of Kyoani’s chairman.

Update:

I missed this, but the profile for Takemoto Yasuhiro in Newtype says that he’s the brigade leader assistant for “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu” that is starting in April and that he’s involved with being the director for the anime.

Brigate leader assistant is his job title for the 2nd season, he only worked on one episode in the 1st season and wasn’t the director.

Update 2:

The J-cast article that originally clearly stated that Kadokawa said it’s a repeat telecast has been edited and now uses the same ambiguous words like in Newtype and no longer clearly says that it’s a repeat.

Update again:

Official Haruhi website updated with same wording that avoids saying rerun and the description for Newtype March on the site has Tsuruya saying that she’s really surprised at the announcement that “Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu” is starting in April and that Haruhi is probably planning something fun again.
