Jumbo Suika auctions off for big money too
A jumbo Suika plush doll (eyes closed ver.) by Pink Company that was only sold in limited amounts at the recent reitaisai has auctioned off for 916,000 yen (US$9,270). Only ten of this version was made for sale, and the mass production version which will be sold through shops has her eyes open.
The doll measures about 45×25x25cm and is sold at 12,000 yen (US$120) originally, the mass production version was available for preorder online at D-Stage but sold out very quickly too.

I swear, if I could make shit like that… I’d so fucking rich…

But you can’t be rich, when there is plenty of supply, you can’t sell high.
Only the people bought the rare limited edition stuff can sell at the crazy price at auction, the people who actually produce the stuff will only able to sell things at standard price.

Yeah I actually recommended someone start selling their handmade Touhou plushies online because holy crap the markup is insane.
Just throw them on Yahoo auction JP.
Seriously my head hurts when I look at my savings and look at 9k for a “jumbo” Suika doll.
Maybe if he got an army, like 100 Suikas or something.

Not all handmade stuff make it big in Yahoo Auctions JP. I once saw a DS Lite with “custom art” sketched on it, and the first few inquiries went like “can I erase the picture when I buy it”.
